Self confidence is definetly something you will need! If you get a good looking suit or a professional dress then this will definetly help.
Presentation is huge part not looks. As long as you present yourself in a professional manner then I do not think the interviewers will think twice.
They are judging your compatibility to become a doctor not a model!

I also want to meet my husband in med school - there are a lot of great girls in med school and I need to stand out from the crowd if I'm going to meet my perfect match! I wish society didn't place such an emphasis on looks

Makeup, curling iron, hairspray, pointy high heels (biggest confidence booster ever in my book), spray tan, falsies if needed, more hairspray, dark red lipstick (not bright red), well fitting suit...and voila! +5 years.
This is really good advice; I've been there too. OP,If you're gonna date, at least make it someone not in your class.

First, I doubt it is as bad as you're making it sound. Very few people are perfect 10's so unless you are anorexic/morbidly obese and your face has been messed up from being a meth/crack addict, you must have redeeming features. Work on and with those.
First, make sure your app is the best it can be. It carries more weight in terms of admissions than anything else would or should.
Second, dress appropriately. Go to a high end store and consult with a personal shopper if necessary. Also, schedule a consult with one of the make up counters and get a consult on what kind of make up best accentuates your good features. Check your hair cut. Make sure it is flattering to your face and colouring and body size. If not, again, get a consult and get it done right.
That is for the external stuff. Now inside that noggin of yours, what makes you think so poorly of yourself? Look into that. Resolve that. Keep in mind that EVERYBODY has insecurities about themselves. How you deal with them is what makes the difference. Feel free to PM me if you wanna talk.
