Hi all. I recently finished undergrad and am considering doing a masters in kinesiology (undergrad major) before applying to medical school. How much would a masters program increase my chances for do/med school? I've heard a mix of things from different people

👍

It won't help you unless you need help with your GPA. And even then, it might not help you much.

For the majority of schools, it won't help much. It is usually better to do more post-bacc courses or SMP (but SMP is more for those people who can't do anything about there ugGPA).

There are a handful schools that look at graduate GPA (Wayne state was an example). However, if you are look for a traditional masters to boost your chances, then a science oriented traditional masters is your best bet. Just make sure your ugGPA is above a 3.0.

It is true you will hear a mixture of answers and that in itself will tell you that is no absolute answer here.
