Relationship b/w cooperativity/allostery and entropy
Hi SDN! I was wondering what the relationship between cooperativity and entropy is with regards to hemoglobin and oxygen binding. I came across a question in TPR biochem review on this topic and in the answer description it says "consistent with the 'cooperativity' phenomenon of each of these...- internaldebris

Entropy of Solvation Layers/ Protein Folding
I'm having some difficulty understanding this problem from my Kaplan full length. (pic attached) I would think that because the non-polar proteins are clustering (much like folding the non-polar R-groups inwards) that it is becoming more ordered and thus entropy would be decreasing. Also, I...- ScrubswithnoSleeves

What determines entropy?
I know that 1. Entropy decreases from Gas > Liquid > Solid 2. 2 moles of a substance has more entropy than 1 mole 3. Greater molar mass/complexity means more entropy Is there anything else I am missing? This Khan Q said Na+ (aq) has greater entropy than PO3-4 (aq) because "Solvating ions...- sera2018

No Standard Temperature?
I read that that for dG and dH, there is a standard pressure, but NO standard temperature. Q1-Why not? Q2-So...things don't change based on temperature? So in dG=dH-TdS, this relationship will hold true no matter the temperature? How can that be...dG and dH have fixed values, and the entropy...- JKetlerP
