Do I need to be realistic about my age and let go of my dreams of a long residency?
Hello everyone, I am a non-traditional incoming D1 that has always dreamed about oral surgery. For a while now, I have been selling myself on the idea that I would be happy just to get to dental school and have my own practice. I spent a lot of time resenting myself for being too afraid earlier...- rtrue

How old is too old?
I am 29 and considering getting my undergrad and then heading off to med school. I have owned a business in media but don’t feel that I am doing what I want to be doing. I can’t shake the idea of being a doctor. Has anyone ever gotten their undergrad late in life and gone to med school? Will I...- journalisttomed

Old ECs, getting LOR from old college career/out of workforce, and physician shadowing for non-trads
I have a few questions. My undergrad extended from 2001-2004. Would my ECs from way back when still "count"? They included: Volunteering in an ED National Residence Hall Honorary (Historian 1 year, President 1 year) Resident Assistant, 2 years (not sure if this is an EC or work experience)...- stayathomemom

I'm an old lady with a family. Is there any hope?
Alright, maybe not that old, but I ain't no spring chicken anymore. I worked in day care taking care of this year's round of med school applicants. I'm 35, married to a man who is in the prime of a successful professional (non-medical) career, and a stay at home mom to three kids, all school...- stayathomemom

Too old for medical school?
I'm a nontraditional student about to start medical school this year. Sometimes I get down because I didn't start medical school right away; other times, I'm content because I think I've matured over the years. I worked at a hospital for over three years in clinical research, and I got...- luckyely91

Should I get this year's DAT Destroyer?
I have 2016's DAT Destroyer and Math Destroyer, but have not used them because my whole undergrad timeline has shifted by a year. Should I get 2017's Destroyer's bc of the new content, or just stick with 2016? Or get the new dat destroyer and still use 2016's math destroyer? I am planning on...- ringofkeys

How are schools handling old vs new MCAT?
I got a 30 on the old mcat in July 2014. I recently took the July 2016 exam and got a 517. My question is how much weight if any are schools placing on the new mcat over the old? Will I be viewed as a 517 or as a ~513 (avg of 517 and 30)? I'm currently applying and want to know if it's worth my...- henshouse

Debating if I should apply
hello, I am defiantly not a traditional pre med student and I am debating if I should even bother applying. I am 30 years old and have 1 more year of undergrad left. By the time I complete my undergrad I will have been to three different universities off and on for 8 years. I know this previous...- psychiatristoneday

Difference between old vs new TBR (Bio and OChem)
Hi All! I have been searching around but have not been able to figure out whether there is a significant difference between the old and new TBR bio and ochem books. I have the old ones and I am wondering buying the new books would be worth it. From the website it seems like the bio chapters...- mitl

Older student In ms1
Hello all, Sorry if this is a lame post, but I just need some reassurance or harsh truth. I got into a good med school, and so far my performance has been fine--so none of that is an issue. It's just I've over heard other students making a big deal about being 28 when they graduate, and it...- Waldeinsamkeit
