    TCAs and NaHCO3

In Sketchy they say Sodium Bicarbonate is used to treat TCA overdose. One of the reasons they say is because it increases serum pH which favors the non-ionized form of the drug. Why is this? I thought increase serum pH > less H+. Then to compensate for this decrease in H+, wouldn't TCA ionize...

    Oxidative phosphorylation and electrochemical gradient

Complex I results in oxidation of NADH to NAD+ and two electrons flow from the mitochondria matrix to the complex that is embedded in the inner membrane of the mitochondria. I am trying to find an explanation to why 4H+ are pumped to the intermembrane space. Is it because electrons left the...

    Rate-limiting step of TCA

I am confused because my biochemistry notes say that citrate synthase is the rate limiting step and the kaplan book says that isocitrate dehydrogenase is the rate limiting step of the TCA. Which one is the correct one? Thanks
