08-09 cycle question

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Application cycle starts when pharmcas or schools start accepting applications, and schools probably have started looking at applications. However, most schools don't send out interview invites until early fall.

However, this doesn't apply to people who submitted for early decision.

You will know when schools start sending invites for interviews, there will be alot of excitement on these forums followed by months of grief, stress, and turmoil.

I think I'm going to call it "post-interview stress" or "PIS".

but i thought this can't happen until PharmCas actually send out the applications. So technically I'm already behind ?! 😡 and how can they judge when the PCAT score isn't even send out yet?

not all schools go through pharmcas, but yes, schools start looking at applications when they receive them from you (if they dont go through pharmcas) or from pharmcas depending on the deadlines.

Not all schools take pcat scores. Schools that do will wait, but remember there are people who've taken the pcats already and sent them in. Remember there are people who are reapplying from last year, and they already know the routine and will have their apps done faster.

Application cycle just refers to when pharmcas opens and when people start sending applications into pharmcas or to pharmacy schools. Thats all it means.

Trust me you are not behind. The majority of people send out their applications really close to a school's deadline. The people on here tend to be crazy on top of things and can make you feel behind.

true... there are a lot of procrastinators out there and usually they have very good stats so they don't feel the need to worry as they assume they will get accepted somewhere.

You're only "behind" if applying to rolling admit universities. Maybe not...

I also always thought that non-rolling admissions schools looked at all applications equally regardless of when they were submitted...so for a school with a December 1 deadline, the person who submits their application at the start of June has no advantage over the person who submits theirs at the end of November. Is this how it works or not?

well since I'm taking the PCAT the fastest time I can possibley submit my appliaction is the date after the test right? Like I have Hartcourt send it to PharmCAS already but after I take the test, I can submit it. That wouldn't be too late right? its like early fall

From my observation of activities on this forum, the bulk of applications are submitted after October. (November and December is when everyone starts getting their application together). That's my opinion.

You would be in good shape if you do well on your Aug PCAT and submit your application in October.

good luck

so I can't send it in at august? I thought you can send your score in after you take the test and hartcourt will send the application in when they receive your PCAT score from august.

bump anyone that knows about applying or Pharmcas can answer my question? Can I submit my application even before I take the PCAT in August or Can I submit it after I take the August PCAT on say Aug the 23 or Aug the 24th.

you can submit before you take the PCAT. PharmCAS will just forward your scores along when they arrive.

Yep you can submit like gmuskie said. Just make sure you put down the August PCAT as planned in that part of the app.
