08 cycle question??

hey guys,,

i had a quick question before the 08 cycle opens up. when you guys apply in june and sumbmit an application do you guys automatically send the LORS or do secondaries come in the mail then you send them ?? my primary school is NSU that is why im asking

I believe the schools request the LORS upon completion of the secondary application. You could always call the school for clarification.

When I applied, I waited until August 15 or so and then requested LORs for the schools that I had heard from. Then around september 15, I requested LORs for the remaining schools.

Had I used Interfolio, it would have been a moot point, as I could have sent LORs whenever I wanted. But my LOR writers actually wanted to send them one letter at a time.

AACOMAS should be open right now, but the first day you can actually submit and send it would be June 1st if I remember correctly. Secondaries come in the mail after each of your schools receive your primary AACOMAS. Some schools screen your application and some don't. I believe NSU doesn't.

LOR's aren't sent automatically. If you use interfolio or somethig, that's fine. My school had a pre-health committee which organized all our LOR's and sent it to all our schools for us so you might want to look into that as well. Furthermore, I had mine sent with my secondaries. Thus, when I started to fill out my secondaries, I had the pre-health committee send out my LOR packet so that each school had all the components necessary.

For some schools cant you complete the secondary as soon as you complete the primary. Even without them "inviting you" to do so? Can you complete the secondary at those schools who dont screen before your primary is verified?

Check with each school because it varies. Hope this helps. 🙂

oh. oops, my fault. i guess there's some kind of delay this time around. last cycle, aacomas opened in may and I was able to send mine out june 1st.

Yes. Technically, some schools don't care that you send the secondaries in before they send it to you. (ie. they provide it on their websites). I personally waited until I received it from each school, however, that's up to you. Moreover, some schools only send secondaries to select students (ie. they screen) so make sure you know which schools allows this before you do it.
