B/C you don't count the carbon that belongs to the ring...only the carbons that belong to the R-group. Also remember to start counting from the side which gives the substituates the lowest #. The R group is 5 carbons long with a methyl group on the 1 and 3 carbon. Therefore the name is 1,3-dimethylpentylcycloheptane. I hope that makes sense.🙂
