1.5 years out of school

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I am still without a full time job.
How bad would this look to apply to medical school?
I am devoting a lot of time to EC's+ recent part time work.
As you said, you've been devoting a lot of time to bettering your application, so beyond that it doesn't matter. It would only look bad if you were barely doing anything or just sitting around.

I didn't have full time employment the last two years, but got in. it's tough out there for sure, just try to get the best you can out of the experience.

To bring up a side issue that may or may not impact you eventually: I've seen applicants without coursework in the last two years dissed by adcomms for not having kept their academic engagement more current.

If this is true, I find it to be a stupid choice of the adcomms that make decisions like this.

I also want to know more this, I graduated in 2009 with a degree in biology and all my pre-req done. I have been working in a hospital for the past 2 years and planning to apply in 2012.

+1. I graduated in 2009, and bounced from part-time job to part-time job while volunteering/leadership/gaining more clinical exp. Heck, I didn't even do any paid work for 6 months after graduating. Never came up in any of my interviews. If you are sitting around doing nothing the entire time then it'd be a problem.
