I think it's better to think of it in shorter segments, 9 days til Harry Potter, then 6 days until Thanksgiving, then a short 6 more days until Dec. 1. Doesn't that seem sooner.

That's exactly what I've been doing.

I've been finding many more things to look forward to before Dec. 1st.

They're kind of like mini-milestones
