I don't know about other programs but I do know that at Duke residents are able to work a 10/10 schedule. Ten days on and then ten off. The only thing about it is that nobody wants to work nights and this is required if you want to do the 10/10. It doesn't sounds toooo terrible. Do other programs have this?? Anyone done it before?

I don't know about Duke's program, but 10 on 10 off sounds like a hospitalist's schedule, not a resident. I can't think of any residency program which would have such a schedule. At best, a resident would get nights and weekends off, but no residency program gives 10 days off straight.

When I was on trauma as an EM resident at Duke, I worked with a fellow resident (who was GS) who worked 18 in a row (12 hour day shifts) to get 3 days off (as the Duke interpretation of "one day off in 7, averaged over 4 weeks" was taken strictly).

the fake article put a smile on my face! 😀
reminder not to be so serious.
