10 interviews!? 😱
Holy mother of _____ !
I've got 5 invites so far, allo and osteo, and I thought that was pretty decent by November. If someone really has 10 invites... 😕

Well my hat is off to whomever actually has 10 invites by November, they really earned them!

11 invites to date...

but still waiting for that magical thick envelope.

I'm hoping for 10 interviews, since that's how many schools I applied to. So far, I have 3 interviews and still need to finish 5 secondaries. EEK! I need to stop being lazy and get them done!

5 interviews completed so far, 2 to go! So far I've got 3 waitlists, 1 acceptance, and I'm still waiting on the 5th school.
I'd say that anyone who has multiple (as in 2 or more) interviews so far is in great shape, because most schools still have lots of interview invites to give out!
Good luck and happy halloween🙂

hmmm... I'll post my info just so people can see you don't have to have a 4.0 and a 35 to have lots of interviews 🙂

11 Interview invites: Drexel, Rochester, UMD, USUHS, Penn State, Temple, NYMC, Tulane, Georgetown, EVMS, Duke

1 Acceptance: Drexel (hoping to hear from others in the next few weeks)

Stats: ~3.4 undergrad gpa, ~3.5 Masters gpa, 31 MCAT

P.S. Don't always believe what your pre-med advisor says. I got tired of hearing how dumb I was or how my activities really weren't good enough. I might not get any more acceptances, but I think getting 11 interviews is pretty darn good for "stupid me"

My stats are crap and last year I ended up with 10+ interviews.. and a whole lot of waitlists.. This doesn't really count cause I only applied to 3 schools so there was no way to end up with 10+ interviews.

ha. 10. I have a story that can beat that.

Okay, so I was at an interview, and some guy asked the room if anyone wanted to split a taxi after the day was over. I was native to the city and had a ride set up, so I offered to take him along.

So, we're in the car and talking and it comes out that this guy has _19_ interviews. It was mid-october, he had completed 8 and had 11 more coming. He already had an acceptance (I think it was Tulane) too.

I was pretty shocked...19 is a hell of a lot of interviews. But, we were talking and it came out that he's applying with his fiancee. They both want to get into the same school (or presumably, schools in the same city), so they had applied to a Lot of places, in the hopes of getting seats together. He had to go to all of them (even though he had an acceptance), for the same reason.

19 is a lot (more schools that I applied to!) and I'm very impressed, but I don't envy them the task of essentially trying to get two spots...

17 interview invites to date, but will withdraw my apps from a number of them. I applied to 26 schools (20 allo / 6 osteo), which in retrospect was way too many. I spent all my money on primaries and secondaries and now I can't afford to go to the interviews! My grades are good, but MCAT is nothing spectacular (31N). looks like the writing sample doesn't count for too much after all  Thus far this process has shown me that there is much, much more to all of this than just numbers.

Now if only I can manage to pass my classes this term...

Good luck to all

dude, that's amazing. 17 interviews. wow. Did you apply to osteo schools becuase you really like thier philosophy or because you didn't think your stats were that good?

As far as $$ goes, once you receive an acceptance, you can start turning some of those interviews down... then maybe you won't be too broke by the end of this process

I thought people who are applying this cycle weren't included in the mdapplicants searches (unless you've finalized your profile).

edit: never mind. I guess our profiles do show up on searches.

I wonder how many socksandmittens got. I remember that he/she was posting like three a day for 2 months straight (or at least it seemed like it) back in aug/sept. must'v set a record.

i had 19 interviews last year with a 3.1 😀 all allo too.

I think I sent back 15 or so secondaries.
- 12 interview invites: Albany, SUNY Upstate, SUNY Stony Brook, U of Rochester, Howard, EVMS, Jefferson, Emory, UMDNJ-RWJ, UMDNJ-NJMS, Wayne State, and U of Maryland. I attended 8 of them, not going to W. State, U of Maryland, Howard, or Albany; I fell in love with Emory, and stopped interviewing after my U of Rochester interview on 10/13.
- 6 acceptances to date.
- Bio:
3.85/29; graduate in 1998 with Bachelors in Occupational Therapy; NYS Resident, 1 year pro roller hockey in Portugal; Director of Rehab 2001-03.

Good luck to all.

Wow, congrats! I'm curious...were they all between aug-dec or did you have interviews through jan, feb...may?

i interviewed at uci in september (i thought this was way early, it was uci's first interview day) and there was someone there that had gone to 6 already, hopkins being one of them, and had 5 more, and this was in september. why youd interview at hopkins in september and need 10 others is beyond me.

ex-mike, i know it's been done before, but i want to compliment you again on your signature. brilliant, cracks me up everytime.

i second that, thats the funniest sh-t ive heard in a long time. what kind of losers are saying this sort of stuff.

"I'm not going to be a gunner, I'm going to be a sniper" - overheard in a medical school library

The bomb. Where are you going?

15 secondaries,
10 interview offers
Pitt, Vandy, Hopkins, Penn, Cornell, NW, Wash U., UF, NYU, Yale
attended 5
withdrew from 5 after acceptance from Hopkins

3.75/39 International Affairs Major, Graduate work in China.

17 secondaries

11 invites (haven't heard from UCSF, Duke, Harvard, Stanford, UTSA, Yale); attended 7 so far
1 waitlist

3.92/38

ok.. i hate doing this, but again, just to make a point you don't have to have stats like Indy (amazing my friend.. i am amazed by you) cuz most people don't.. i had a 30 mcat (23 the first time.. ya i know) and a 3.7ish Gpa. I got 14 interviews and have gone to 7 of them, declined 7 others and have gotten into 6/7 places i interviewed at and am still waiting on one. So, if you F up on the MCAT, just try try again 🙂 I hope this is useful, cuz I know a lot of people on here have really amazing scores so it can be discouraging for us "avg." scorers. 🙂 Good luck

Indeed!

and actually both my MCAT and GPA are lower than PreMedAdAG's. Especially my GPA.

and for those who are confused. I applied last year ended up with many interviews... got into a school that I really really dont' want to go to; defered a year to try for a school I'd much rather attend.

absolutely. i think my post is also helpful to show that numbers dont equal "instant admission".

good luck to all.

not yet, at least 🙂
good luck everyone.

Georgetown (withdrew)
Boston University (withdrew)
Drexel (withdrew)
Temple (withdrew)
UMDNJ-New Jersey Medical School (accepted)
UMDNJ- Robert Wood Johnson (accepted)
SUNY Stony Brook (accepted)
SUNY Downstate (waiting for decision)
Mt Sinai (haven't interviewed yet)
Vanderbilt (accepted)

I was complete in mid September and my stats are: 38 MCAT, 3.4 GPA

I will have taken 4 years off by the time I enter, and I think it's what I've done with this time that is the biggest help to my application.

I wasn't expecting to do this well. I just wanted to get into A medical school, and one reason I got so many interview invites is that I applied to a mother load of schools. (a huge waste of money, considering I am withdrawing everywhere now)

Thanks.

I'm in at both SUNYs, Jeff, UMDNJ-NJMS, EVMS, and Emory. I'm looking to see if there is any...umm...a$$istance that I can count on...we'll see...

I think it is important to keep in mind what katieoconnor said-it really depends on the number of schools you applied to. Don't be discouraged if you only have a few interviews and you applied to <15 schools, it just takes time. 🙂 Treg

exactly. it took 41 secondaries to get my 19 interviews.

how can anyone apply to 41 schools? I don't even want to go to 41 schools. ugh i feel hopeless reading this board.

I have 11 interview invites: SUNY-Upstate, Alebert Einstein, U. of Miami, NYU, SUNY-Downstate, George Washington, Mt. Sinai, Georgetown, Tufts, Drexel and Jefferson.

So far I have attended the first 6 interviews and I heard from SUNY-Upstate and Miami - accepted.

Stats:
35N, 3.96 GPA, 3.94 BCPM

MD Applicants Profile 02035

9 interview invites so far: Vanderbilt, Duke, Harvard, Wake Forest, Northwestern, UMD, Case Western, Cleveland Clinic, MSSM

Still praying for: UPenn, UPitt, Yale, Stanford, GWU, Cornell, NYU, Columbia, and Hopkins

On Hold: UChicago

Rejected from: Georgetown

Stats: 3.6/36, great ECs, great Recs, solid essays

Overall, I consider myself VERY lucky to have gotten some of the interviews I've gotten so far...Still waiting for an acceptence though... :scared:

just curious since i applied to several of those schools, and considered some of the others, (and not terribly different stats either). when did you take the MCAT? when were you complete? how soon after that did you get interview invites? what state are you a resident of?

I just got my 9th interview today,

16 primarys
15 secondaries (recieved the 16th but withdrew my app)
9 interviews (columbia, northwestern, Wash U, U of Iowa, U of Wisconsin, MSU...)
2 acceptances (U of Michigan and Vanderbilt)

no waitlists or rejections yet... but I'm mentally preparing

As was said above, I feel REALLY lucky. My stats arent perfect by any means. I AM still hoping... ... however, any complaints at this point would make me a selfish bastard. I'm happy at michigan so staying here for another 4 would be fun.

I've been to 13 interviews: UMASS, Pritzker, NYMC, UVM, Rochester, GW, UPitt, Case, Cornell, Mt Sinai, Drexel, BU, and Tufts

Haven't heard from: JHU, WashU

Accepted: Drexel, Rochester, Case Western
On Hold: Pritzker

Overall GPA: 3.9
MCAT: 33

Hope that helps... but 10+ interviews actually suck when it comes down to it. By the end you're just tired and spending way too much money. All you need is one... 🙂

Applied to 13 schools, got 12 interviews to date.

Already interviewed at SUNY Downstate, Stony Brook, Columbia, Cornell, Yale.

Withdrew from Upstate

Interviews coming up at NYU, Einstein, Harvard, Sinai, JHU, UPenn

Still haven't heard anything from NYMC

I've been fortunate enough to get 11 invites:

GWU, SUNY Upstate, NYMC, Rosalind Franklin, MCW, Penn State, Drexel, St. Louis University, UIC, Albany Med, MCO

Pray for me to get some Cali invites. PLEASE.

2 acceptances (uva, upstate) guess i give that state school vibe 🙂
1 waitlist (urochester)

35r, 3.9, 3.7bcpm
art major at state school, post bac, paid emt

never imagined i'd get this far.

22 secondaries
10 interviews (Cornell, UCSF, UCSD, Duke, Yale, UIowa, Wake Forest, Northwesteern, UMich, UPenn)
2 acceptances (UCSD, UIowa)
1 waitlist (UMich)
