Reflections from Limbo....

Schools appear to to dislike the use of the word "waitlist." The word has now moved into the ever expanding realm of the politically-incorrect. As a waitlisted person myself, I though it would be nice to have a thread dedicated to the all of the newspeak surrounding "waitlist".

For example, school X informed me just last week that while I was a well-qualified applicant, a final decision on my application will require the submission of my first semester grades." In other words..."Until then, please feel free to endlessly click reload on your inbox in hopes of other offers." Anyone else care to add the ways in which they were basically told that you are only good enough if someone turns down our school????

I'm "highly desirable" myself, but I guess not desirable enough. 😳

i don't think this has anything to do with your thread, but i abhor waitlists. i was on 4 of them this year, and none of them came through for me. i wish that they had just straight rejected me, so that i could have done some fun stuff over the summer, instead of sitting at home waiting for "the call." that call never came, and one of the school's i was waitlisted at never even sent me a rejection letter.
