I think I remember reading somewhere that its harder getting into US MD/DO as an international student. Something about having to sponsor a work visa for residency?
How was the rest of your app?
 
What other schools did you apply to?

And I thought this was a well-established fact. It's just plain harder to get in as an IS.

Fairly decent imo, I have almost 1000 hours of volunteer service, >1000 hrs at a clinic, and 3 publications (1 in Stroke and 1 in BMJ Open).
The other schools I applied to were: MSUCOM, NSUCOM, CCOM

This is your problem. You applied to all the top tier DO schools in the country as an international applicant. Some of these schools are not even international friendly (I don't think CCOM nor NSUCOM accept many international applicants.) MSUCOM is friendly to Canadians (only about 20 matriculate,) but that's about it.

You probably should've applied to a lot more schools than just four. UNECOM has been also friendly to Canadians. Did you apply there?

Agreed with posters above, in the eyes of many schools you aren't judged the same as a US applicant. Should've really applied more across the board and done research on which schools are friendly for international students. Great GPA and a reasonable MCAT score though should land you an acceptance somewhere.
 
MSUCOM likes Canadians, and there are 13 others (not mine) that will take Canadians. I'm surprised that you're not having better luck.

The cycle ain't over though.

CCOM - mcat below 30 Flag - I expect you will hear back later in the cycle. must prepay all 4 years tuition tho.
MSUCOM - complete too late for canadian applicant, i believe most canadian seats have deposits now.
NSUCOM - not sure, must be app or just plain slow adcom.

Did not apply broadly enough.

you should add schools asap.
 
Add some more schools, with your stats applying late shouldn't greatly hinder your chances for this cycle.

What other schools do you suggest?
I had PCOM (GA campus as well) and AZCOM in mind.

Look at studentdo.ca, they have a list of schools friendly to Canadians.
 
AZCOM take Canadians each year (heck, two Canadians are teaching us as scholar right now), they do want you to pay 4 years in advance tho...But yes I definitely feel it is harder to get in as an international.
Have you applied to MD schools as well? Your GPA/EC are very good, so if not, might worth a shot. Otherwise, you can still add a few DO schools now, I know AZCOM will send out interviews all the way till April.
