A lot of these secondaries ask about my gap year plans, which I've covered pretty thoroughly in the work&activities and personal statement parts of my primary app. Would I be penalized for repeating my activities almost verbatim for the secondary prompts?

For background info, this is my second year working at a research lab after graduating from college. I already talked about my research contributions, hobbies, and volunteer activities that I'm currently involved in, and I don't think I have anything more to add since I submitted the primary app a couple of weeks ago...
Try to change it up a bit, with different vocabulary words, at a minimum. While all screeners and adcomms don't have necessarily access to all parts of the application, sometimes they do, and you don't want anyone getting bored and starting to skim.

Better to be redundant than inconsistent, so err on the side of redundancy while being sure to be somewhat original in secondaries.
