You're volouteering will most definitely help you. You obviously do need shadowing but volouteering does not have to be dentistry related. Working with a non-profit and helping kids with therapy is awesome. Just make sure that with help from your parents the ivy is not so much more money. If you get 200 shadowing hours you will be fine.

I agree as long as you shadow a few hundred hours you’ll be fine. I think that volunteering at a location over the years shows your commitment and the fact that it involves interacting with and helping people will be good! Not all people have the experience or know a dentist that will allow them to volunteer in the dental field unless your a dental assistant. If you can get hands in experience, that would be great, but isn’t a deal breaker.
