It's just that they're speshul.
They've got mostly the same numbers and use it to compare themselves to the others.

is there any concrete indication of what the consortium does exactly?
they are all competing for the same students essentially, so you think this is a way of keeping their admissions % down by sharing who they plan on admitting/waitlisting w/e?
this little club of their sounds pretty silly to me

I guess my main question was whether these schools "talk" to each other concerning students they're planning on accepting.
For example, if a student sends a Letter of Intent (LOI) to one school that's part of the consortium, will this school then inform the rest of the members so that they don't admit this person and therefore protect their yield.
Any ideas? Comments? Insight?

No, it's purely to check their stats against the others. There's not actually a "consortium", it's just "these schools tend to have the same numbers".

A faculty member mentioned this consortium when I interviewed at one of these schools. I think they also meet up and compare recruitment strategies with each other. I certainly hope they don't share application files.😱

Everything I can find says they just talk about their funding and FA pols and curricula and whatnot.A faculty member mentioned this consortium when I interviewed at one of these schools. Not about applicants, but about their schools themselves.
Gotta stay on top, you know.

i agree. The 13 schools consortium is a secret organization that meets on a regular basis to share information on all aspects of medical school operations. They don't discuss specific students, but they talk about their experiences in a variety of areas: curriculum, match, admissions, etc. it's a special club.
Please refrain from necrobumping 13 year old threads, thanks.
