choose stony brook. seems like it is ranked higher, and has a better newer corriculum that will help with step. Plus matching northeast easier.

Thank you for your input! I think MCW is ranked higher than Stony Brook, at least in NIH funding. Would that change anything?

you know you are right. I just looked at that data again. MCW seems like it has more money. I would look towards the ortho departments of both schools and see how prolific they are in terms of publishing. But besides that, MCW would be a better option.

SB isn't higher ranked than MCW. If you look at past years data, MCW consistently ranks in the 50-55. It's just that this year, MCW didn't submit their information to USNWR, hence being unranked on their website.

Gotta say... I had a great experience at Stony on my interview day, but what you see is not the same as what you get when you matriculate.
The curriculums a mess and the admin doesn't ever tell students what's going on. They're renaming the school but nobodys told us anything, they change the curriculum on you half way through, and they really all seem to resent the students. I flew under the radar but I've heard horror stories. I matched well because I studied a lot and SB still has a good name ... but I don't recommend the school.

I see this sentiment in all of the MCW vs X threads, but I grew up 10 minutes away from MCW and will tell you that even though it technically is, I wouldn't even consider the campus to be "in Milwaukee," let alone a dangerous part of Milwaukee. It's located between/inside three wealthy suburbs, and the part of Milwaukee that it is technically in is a suburb-like area full of expensive houses owned by people like the governor. You won't ever have to go to any areas that are potentially dangerous.
