Which do you think would be more detrimental: a crappy score that gets in early, or a much better score that comes in two weeks later? And if you're convinced that two-week delay will destroy your app, you can hold off and apply next cycle, which is what would happen anyway with a bad score. Stop freaking out, this is a no-brainer.

Assuming you send in everything on the first day, then a June 29th MCAT is not a death sentence by any means. If you have everything complete(including secondaries) by about Labor Day then you will be good to go!

If everything is in the day your MCAT score comes out, you'll be fine. Taking the later one will put your score release date two weeks later which will have little to no difference on your application cycle.

If you get rejected by a school, it won't be because they got your app two weeks later than you would have originally sent them.

If you plan on doing medicine, I'm pretty sure you'll have to move your bar for "difficult".... Life should and will get way more difficult than a two week delay on an MCAT. Not trying to be rude, just saying to get a grip and you'll be OK! It won't be too late

Okay, so I'm in a big dilemma and kind of panicking here.

I'm scheduled to take my MCAT June 16th, which was the latest I was going to go with. My AMCAS is mostly ready except for one MM essay (I have the draft, but need to finalize/edit it). Transcripts are in, LORs done. The last piece was my MCAT. This is a retake for me, so I need to do well (I'm aiming for a 513 and last year it was below 506 with a terrible CARS).

I have an accommodation for the MCAT which, while minor, I think is important for me to do well. Not having this accommodation screwed me up badly two years ago, which is why AAMC themselves gave it to me without a diagnosis or documentation on my part. So, apparently even they thought it was important enough to offer me.

I booked my MCAT date more than two months ago and everything was set. Unfortunately, I just received a call saying that they could not offer me the accommodation on the 16th and AAMC would like to reschedule me to June 29th MCAT with accommodation. I argued against this, but looks like there are only two options for me now:

1. Take the June 16th exam without an accommodation (which can be risky for me)
2. Take the June 29th exam with accommodation (which is LATE?! 🙁)

I have two days to decide. I'm freaking out. I thought I could be early this cycle - was going to submit AMCAS early June and prewrite secondaries to be complete mid-July. But now, what do I do? Will the June 29th exam make me too late? With this date, earliest I could be complete at schools is probably August 1st right? Or is it even later? 🤔

It's posts like these that give SDN a bad name.

How many times do we have to tell SDNers that June is NOT late? July is NOT late. August is NOT late!!!!

SDNers, please spread the word.

Agree with this. A shifting of your exam date should not cause you to melt down/freak out.

What are secondaries?

What are secondaries?
After you send in your primary (some not all) schools will send out a secondary app with more questions for you to answer before you are invited to interview (or rejected pre interview).

To the Op: put all of your energies into doing well on the McAT. It’s the most important thing.
