I am not really sure where I am right now. I feel like I might be too research heavy considering my stats wont be competitive for the research heavy schools. I want to make sure my service activities are balanced with my research so less research heavy schools aren't turned off by me.

Volunteering:
1100 hrs in ED which included being "promoted" to lead trainer, recived an award from my hospital for my long commitment
100 hrs being part of an organization that tutors underserved and underrepresented minorities
50 hrs in food bank

Research:
2 years in breast cancer research
3 month in translational drug research at prestigious cancer center -> oral preseantion
8 months in analytical chem lab -> earned a grant to attend confence -> will be doing an oral presentation
Currently in immunology lab at ivy ( will be doing it for min 1 but most likely 2 years) and will have at least one presentation from this.

Am I balanced or should I do more volunteering?
I think you could use more hours in the tutoring and food bank organizations, but your extraordinary level of involvement with ED volunteering will help adcomms overlook the mediocre nonmedical volunteer hours. Don't forget physician shadowing.

Side Note: You're a dental student?

I have shadowing, Freshman year i was divided on dental school and med. When I made this account i was undecided but leaning heavily dental. I picked dental student by accident thinking it was pre-dental.

I might find new organizations to help the underserved since I cant be involved in these organizations anymore (i moved)
