Not any of the adcoms you mentioned, but I’m a non-trad with kids. Your reasons are valid for your life turnaround, but not for “why medicine?”

I am a non-traditional student who is weighed down by a horrible transcript full of W's, F's, and good grades. I was simply a bad student for many reasons but mostly it was because I did not show up and my heart was not in it. I managed to turn myself around with a DIY-transcript repair over 70 credits of upper divisions science at a GPA of 3.9, and my MCAT is in the mid 90th percentiles. I took a break from schooling and picked up odd jobs, mostly in the service industry. The turning point was I found out I was going to be a father 4 years ago, this moment of clarity on what I wanted out of my life caused me to become an organized, dedicated, and consistent person in everything I attempted after this point. Is this something I can talk about or does it make it sound like my motivations are to external? I love my family and I look at it as if I am going to be apart from them I want to be doing something meaningful and to my best abilities because otherwise, I feel like my time is not being well spent. Is this an okay point to discuss or does it sound like a big red flag? @Goro @Faha
Sounds OK
