Not really. Unless you audition you probably wont get interviewed especially with low stats
If you have low-ish stats / minimal research is it worth applying to DO programs if you want to stay in a specific area? For example, NY area. Just wondering why I'm not seeing any MDs in the ortho programs other than the Northwell one.
you’re not seeing MDs because DOs won’t take you unless you rotated and kicked ass, even with high stats.

Even now in the time of COVID when aways are canceled / virtual?
ESPECIALLY now in the time of covid when aways are cancelled, applying to ortho with low stats and little research is not a good plan.
