If you have learned things about the school from alumni magazines that have arrived at your house, or you have other information about what the school currently offers (which may be different from when your folks were in school), it would be reasonable to give that as reasons why you are interested in the school. (e.g. not that your parents went there but that the new xyz, or the innovative curriculum in x is exciting.)
 
The interview is not the place to name drop your parents’ alma mater (unless you are asked the question directly). It could easily come across poorly, like dropping a really high MCAT score in an interview. Just don’t . . .
 
I am a student interviewer and I would not be pleased if an applicant brought this up. I also have strong negative feeling towards legacy admits, which is part of the reason why.
 
I feel differently. If the applicant wants to mention in an interview that both of their parents are graduates of the program, I'd be happy to hear it.
