I have a list based upon stats and IS/OOS ratios from MSAR. I factor in ECs as well, especially geared to the service loving schools.
So as an example, SLU, which has a median MCAT of 514 (10th %ile 505) would be on the list for someone with an MCAT of 518 and 300 hrs nonclinical volunteering, but not for someone with only 150 hrs but 1000 hrs of research and the same MCAT
I use a similar process to Goro. Additional mission fits include things like engineering for Carle and public health for GW. Some of the public schools are known for keeping slots for higher stat OOS students.
If it is alright, can you please tell us what are those public schools that keep slots for high stat oos students?
A big salute to all those fine people like Mr.Smile12, Goro, Faha, chilly_md , LizzyM , gyngyn (I am sorry I forgot a few) for spending their invaluable personal time to help thousands of applicants every single day. My daughter is one of those who benefitted from their generosity. She was blessed and fortunate to get into a T15 school this ongoing cycle. These fine people do have big heart !!
UVA, Wisconsin, and Iowa are some examples. For those with strong research as well, Baylor and UTSW are worth a shot since those are the applicants they aim for with their 10% OOS (they do not look for any TX ties). Stony Brook falls into a similar category, but with more slots available.
