If I were a surgeon, I'd be peeved. A 15 year old kid working on manakins is considered a "pioneer" in surgery, and the story lists his high school as basically "medical school".

I didn't know surgery was so easy, a high schooler could do it!

What a ridiculous story.

even if he never even goes into medicine.

What, you're expecting a good story on MSNBC?

I know this isn't the place for politics, but come on. It's MSNBC. Let's just say that "lacking" would be an understatement

Let me guess, you are a fan of the "fair and balanced" excuss for a news organization?

I personally get most of my news from Daily Show/Colbert Report, but when I need real news, MSNBC > CNN >>> Faux News...

BTW, this is from the Today Show, meaning it is NBC and not MSNBC.

Was this theonion.com? 'Cause it really seemed like it came from it. I like how the mother tries to sound intellectual, "we like to talk about cancer at the dinner table and the uh... different types of cancer --- and was this one of those urban community outreach programs or something?

Also, why was he just posing a lot like he cured goat aids? If I cured goat aids I'd pose like that.

Artist's rendition of how Mister T would pose if he cured goat aids:

The reflection in his glasses screams "HOT" btw.

Was that one of Bush's daughters interviewing him????

actually you know after watching the video I think it was pretty darn good. They made it pretty clear that it was a medical school program for highschool kids. It was actually a program similar to that that I took in high school that got me interested in medicine in the first place. I'd be pretty interested to see his technical skills since they kept talking about it, but I"m happy for the kid.

lol..I really hope you were kidding. :scared:

It wouldn't be so unusual if he did: surveys by the Pew Research Center for the People and the Press showed that a full 47 percent of Americans between the ages of 18 and 29 often gleaned information about the presidential campaign from late-night comedy shows, like those of Jay Leno and David Letterman.

Do a Google search on the topic of getting news from The Daily Show and there are tons of articles about it.

May I ask what an "excuss" is?

Anyway, my response was just a tiny political crack (even though I stick by what I said). I never knew it would cause a liberal to erupt in a "MSNBC IS BETTAR THAN 'FAUX'" rampage, lol. Fox news is watched more than all the "other" news stations combined (yes, including MSLSD) for a reason.

Anyway back on topic, lol. Is that the kid in that picture? How snotty.

Is he still single? I'm thinking about having a daughter during CA-1 year.

Right. Same reason people watch professional wrestling.

You know, for a high school kid who has been banned from this forum before, you have a lot of nerve calling out typographical errors...
I was never banned from the forums. And I'm no longer in high school.

Since you're a socialist, I'd think you have a conflict of interest in the FOX vs MSMBC debate. Of course you're going to watch MSNBC if you're a socialist.

Keith Olbermann is proud of you.

Yes, Cheisu, you were, and just because you may now have a diploma doesn't make it any less audacious for you to call out a typographical error.
And, while my user name on an anonymous internet forum where one is allowed to title himself in a way that may or may not be in line with his actual beliefs says the word "socialist," I actually watch MSNBC less than I do Fox News, as I think Fox is more creative with its propaganda and I like a good laugh during my drive home.

And again, no I was not banned. I made this account and couldn't have duplicates so I had to pick which account I wanted to keep, and I decided to keep this account.

Have WS tell you if you don't believe me. She's the one who told me to pick.

Hence the "resident objectivist" bit (which contains not one but TWO plays on words)...

In case you haven't gotten to Ayn Rand yet in your freshman "intro to western literature" survey, objectivism and socialism are not what you'd call mutually compatible belief systems.

I know his posts are forks-on-the-chalkboard times a thousand, but wouldn't it be better if we just ignored him? It seems silly that we let a teenager get us all riled up. I'm not talking about your post in particular, but people are feeling obligated to take Cheisu down a peg in multiple threads, and I feel like it's better to pretend he doesn't exist.

Whether he's for real or not, we've got new foxy trolls now that are more fun to argue with....we should save our energy for the more worthy opponents.

Really? Now people are calling me a troll? You have got to be kidding. I've posted MANY serious threads on this forum, and gotten a lot of good answers.

How are we supposed to avoid debate in a topic like this?

It sounds like calling me a troll is just your attempt to "win".

I appologize for my typographical error...

Reports from I believe the 2004 election showed that daily show viewers were more informed about the election than those of other shows, and yes, I do literally get most of my news from the Daily Show. I also watch MSNBC and occasionally, for a laugh, will catch some Fox News.

As for viewership, the cheap shot is to talk about NASCAR and the such... the way I see it is that there is really 1 source for Conservative slant on news in the main stream media, and that is Fox News. If you are a conservative, every other news media upsets you, so you turn to Fox. For moderates and liberals, Fox News upsets you, so you turn to the other outlets, including CNN, MSNBC, and on down the line. Plus, liberals in particular, but moderates too, and to a smaller extent conservatives turn to other media outlets, such as the internet, for the news and political coverage, further hurting the liberal media's numbers compared to Fox News.

And the program that includes Hannity, O'Reily, and Glenn Beck, are, according to FOX News themselves, are not "NEWS" programs (see attached Dailyshow clip). I could insert jokes and jabs at that statement, but will go beyond that. Olbermann particularly, Maddow too, even Mathews are all biased towards the left (and usually make no 'secret' about it), what is the most amusing and rediculas is that Fox does not admit (and even has the slogan contray to the point) its bias and slant (in the 2004 election, and probably in the 2008 election too although I did not see or look up the statistics, the #1 predictor of if you were going to vote for George Bush was Fox News viewership, a staggering 85-90% of Fox News viewers voted Bush... even more so than registered Republican or any other way broken down...)

http://www.thedailyshow.com/watch/mon-december-28-2009/exclusive---the-fourth-estate see 0:48 for this.. I couldn't find the original clip it was in...

And to speak about a rampage... when you included the quoted post above on a liberal rampage, I was the only commentor about it, and to be honest, my comments were on par with yours (I didn't blast you for going on a rampage about MSNBC, just offered a counter argument in the "fair and balanced" nature of Fox News... but then again, your response is exactly how those fair and balanced conversations on fox go... no discussion just shouting matches and wild claims with no facts).

and I will end with this clip to show that I really don't need to watch Fox News to know exactly what I am talking about for Fair and Balanced...

and with that, I end my political debates on the surgical forum...

What a ridiculous story.

I'm pretty sure most surgeons are secure enough not to get peeved by a story about a kid with great mentors and an admirable goal.

Yes they dramatized the story, but other than that I didn't see anything terribly peeving about it -- at least not more peeving than every other overly dramatized story on the news. They made it pretty clear that he was in high school and wanted to grow up to be a doctor someday.
