just got my gpa report by ece : 2.71 🙁
I am so depressed, i immediately searched this forum for gpa and from reading all the posts, got an idea of how low my gpa is. I am giving my part 1 soon and my toefl is 273...will i be considered at all for any university?? i know nyu ,boston only accepts ece reports..somebody who has applied with low gpa and still got in,pls pls do let me know..i need a ray of hope..

also, i have never repeated any year/subject and my % was 65.5,61.8,60.28,62.64 respectively for four yrs..an avg of 62.5%..i am so confused why i was given alow gpa by ece???somebody pls tell me what should i do?

Does anyone know whether we could send the notarized copy of transcripts for course by course evaluation? Or do we have to arrange a transcript directly sent from the school that we attended in our country? Tks

I don't understant your % score. well, it's ECE or equivelent's bussisness to convert them to Amwerican system. My question is we Chinese have another score system(maybe more than one), and does anybody know what it should call in English? I give out the example here. Say in biochemistry, I got 68.and the number 5 out of 40 students in my class( we have only one stomatology class each year.) It's normal that a lot of student got failed in biochemistry(scores under 60) .In other course, I got 90+, but could also be number 5. There were no comparable score from class to class(different year different test paper). How do you exsplain this score system in English/American? Any idea about how ECE convert them?
By the way my overall everage score was about 85, and got a GPA 2.9(ECE general)

hi i also got my ece report with very low gpa...2.87..
i got..72%in firstyr..then62.5..,65.7..nd63.8in next respective yrs..
i dont know...why it is so?? 😡

Even I got my report... I have 2.65. 🙁 But I heard they do it according to ranks. Basically, they set a standard according to the difficulty level of the college's curriculum by looking at the transcripts. Then they compare your scores with the top scorer at your university. Not necessarily the top scorer should be in your class. And then they grade you accordingly. 65%, 75% or 85% does not mean great marks. If a lot of students have gotten the same percentage, our gpa will go down. After I learnt how they do it, I think their system is very fair. I did not fail in any subject, but one classmate of mine failed in two subjects and got higher GPA. wHEN i referred, I saw she has done very well in other subjects, better than me and that is why her GPA is more than me.

I got this from a reliable source 🙂 but they were talking only about the institutions in India. I am sorry i dont know about Chinese colleges. In fact because ECE is more reliable, all colleges are shifting to ece. also, the colleges dont look only at gpa. they also have nbde scores.. if we can excel in that, why should we be bothered about gpa. 🙂
