2 Destroyer Orgo Questions...need help

Can someone please help me with these two questions?

Orgo #44-I don't understand why choice e would form the most stable C+ necessary for SN1.

Orgo #65- I don't understand the explanation for how to convert the Newman to a Fischer projection. Is there an easy way to do this?

For # 44 look closely, not only is the c+ a double allylic c+ it is also an aromatic compound! Choice D comes close but it is not aromatic.
For # 65 to convert you first have to rotate the methyl groups into anti position ant then mentally "squash" that molecule onto the paper. Try this with a model kit. Its a nice technique.
