So I went from hearing nothing, to getting a hold from GW yesterday, and a rejection from Gtown today. Should I start worrying? Because I am!

my reaction to OP is that it is still VERY EARLY. many of us had our first 2 or 3 responses in the negative range. we now have hope. hang loose.

Drizz, BTW, your list of schools is way out of your reach. for your sake, hope you get some acceptances from the places you have interviewed, because that will probably be it. if you still have time, i would add a few more schools in the lower tier.

There are a lot of us non-trads about, some older than 31. Somehow, I'm not sure that applying to medical school in ones thirties makes one a loser. Perhaps I just don't realize the extent of my own loser credentials, though. Enlighten me?

When were you complete?

Those schools get A TON of applicants. They reject boatloads of applicants who are more than qualified to attend their schools. They are not "numbers ******" and supposedly try to choose people who fit with their philosophy. Others say that they are more random than anything. I wouldn't put too much stock in those rejections. Look at some mdapps pages and you will see quite a few people with GW holds and GT rejections who have gotten into "better" med schools than them. Good luck.

A hold is not bad. It means that you are still in the running there. You also have many other applications left to hear about, and it only takes ONE acceptance.

Off topic - I find it very disappointing to open a thread only to find mudslinging for no apparent reason. Drizzt, if you're having a bad day I hope you can find a more productive way to make it better than by releasing your tension throwing rocks on a support board. This can be a monkey see monkey do place. When one person starts being snide on a thread, others tend to pick up on it and start doing the same on other threads. It stales the atmosphere. Please stop.

Trust me when I say you would never be welcome at ANY party of mine. I normally would ignore this, but again, I will make an EXCEPTION. You are an absolute jerk. I have had a rough 2 days, and am using SDN for a little support. Instead of reading my original post and moving on, you found it necesary to respond. Then you responded again with an equally rude comment. Don't you think you should be a little more mature at the age of 31? Maybe this is how you feel better about yourself - come on SDN and put people down. The funny thing is, with a personality like yours it doesn't matter where you go to medical school because you will fail. You're not a good person, and it is a matter of time before everyone realizes that. Why not get a grip, grow up, and take Social Skills 101 - I am sure you can bury yourself in the library and learn something. GOOD DAY

I think this post was really uncalled for. In my opinion, Drizzt is one of the most helpful people on this site. I know that his message was harsh, but it was in no way a personal attack on you as a person. It does get tiring reading all of these posts multiple times a day. I would never respond in this way, and I think that we should all be supportive of each other, but I am disappointed that you stooped to this level upon little provocation.

I think we can all agree that I could be more mature or nicer. That said, I dont want my take home message to be lost. Sometimes, a realistic assessment of someones situation is of value, so if all they want is support or commiseration, they should make that clear. If ppl always tell someone theyll be fine when they wont, this site wont be as valuable.

okay, folks, no one knows how the admissions committees or whoever works....... If it makes dabiophyz any condolence, I was put on hold at GWU as well...I have OK MCAT (11 PS, 7 VR (eep), 11 BS) and a 3.77 BCPM at CWRU (am a Biochem major)..in fact, I am surprised I wasn't rejected from GWU..

Well I have to say that I'm a little dissapointed by how civil everyone became suddenly. I was up for a little bit more anger and bloodshed.

That said, I think it would help everyone to keep in mind that in medicine, you're going to meet a lot of egos and have to deal with a lot of offensive remarks and personal attacks.

It's really not worth your time to make enemies in such a small world. Save your aggression for the neighborhood kid that kicks your dog.
