Hi all. I've been studying for the new MCAT (self study) for the past few months or so. This is the thing. I have been reading through and doing practice questions right after the topics. Now that i'm revisiting the old chapters, i find my knowledge somewhat lacking. This is my query.

Should i abandon the reading and focus on just doing practice questions/passages/tests or to continue the read do questions rinse and repeat process slightly longer?

honestly, if you've been studying for months already and don't plan on taking the exam for another 2 months then the reason you're forgetting stuff is because you haven't seen it in so long
There's a point when you're spending too long studying for the MCAT, and that point is when you're starting to forget the things from when you started your studying
No one can tell you what the best thing to do is-but it appears that your current approach might not be helping anymore. Try the ways you mentioned above, see which starts helping you remember the material. Because when you get in there on test day, its just you and the exam, so prepare whatever way makes you learn the materail

For me, it was most helpful to do MCAT style questions, such as questions you would see on full length exams from companies or AAMC questions from full length tests. When I got something incorrect, I would review the answers, and if and only if I was super confused, I would go back to the written work. I think this was helpful because gave me a good idea of how the MCAT was going to ask questions about certain topics, and it gets you used to the passage style questions.

If you choose to go this route, make sure you leave some full lengths untouched for practice in taking the exam at its full length like you will on test day.
