2 months is absurd. No other test takes this long. AAMC may say "Well we have to grade your essays" ok... but the GRE grades our essays in 2 weeks.
So AAMC will say "Well we have a lot of test takers and need time to scale the scores accordingly" but the MCAT doesnt have more takers than the SAT, and those tests are graded, scaled, and released in 2 weeks.
The LSAT is graded in 2 weeks, the GMAT is graded in 2 weeks... Why would the MCAT take 2 months? It doesnt make any sense except that it contributes to the torturous wait time involved in the entire medical school proess.

Medical schools that are part of the AAMC must pay AAMC large sums of money for the whole process. Why? There isn't an alternative. The AAMC can do whatever they want and still get their way.

It is because of THIS FORUM. The AAMC employees probably spend lunch and coffee breaks laughing at our misery.

Unfortunate, but likely all too true. hahaha

We are the last test administration where it will take 2 months to get scores. The CBT people from January onwards will have it in 2 weeks and eventually maybe a week. Just hang in there.

CBT will be 30 days I thought.

Maybe we can sue AAMC for having a monopoly on the medical admissions testing business. If we win, wwe will have our choice of tests, including discount generic brand medical admission tests.

If that happens, I'm getting my medical care in another country.

Seriously. Talk about revenue. 70,000 people taking it a year. $200 a piece.
Thats 14MM right there. Not to mention ALL of the practice tests at $40 a pop. Oh, and who f***ing knows how much the schools are paying them. ALOT, thats for sure.

The eventual goal is to have it down to 1-2 weeks. So with time it will be that way. But long after you and I are dne with this stuff.

BTW are you a Florida resident???

No, Georgia...I hate UF- hence my username referencing their love for jean shorts.

Actually we are off better than law school board takers. I know a person who took boards in Cali and it was a 2-day test (8hrs/day) and you have to wait for scores 4 months.

My friend's wife is waiting to see if she passed the BAR. Studied 8hrs/day for 2 months and now has to wait 2 months for results like us. Did SAT scores seriously get released in 2 weeks. I can't believe that. I guess I'm too used to this MCAT waiting game garbage.

Yes, the Bar exam is grueling, and so is the wait time- but they also can begin working for a firm while waiting for their scores...and all that really matters is if they pass or fail- so its a little different.

They need time to pick out their favorites (sons and daughters) and manipulate their scores...

Their should be another tests not run by the AAMC, similar to how high school students can take either the SAT or ACT. This way it might stop the AAMC from taking advantage of students with ridiculous prices and long waits.
