1)Would you say the mcat is about strategy or knowledge of the sciences? To get into 35+ range?
The sat was mostly strategy from my experience on how to get the correct answer what to omit etc...

2) is it better to omit a question or guess?

IMO, 50% knowledge, 50% test-taking skills/strategy. I might not qualify to answer your question though, I only got 35 on a practice test.
Also, always guess... you don't get penalized for wrong answers.

A 35 is awesome
Have you taken the actual test!?

No I think OP is saying he/she scored a 35 on a practice test he/she studied for. Their Mdapps account says 1st Mcat: 10/6/12 or 28 total.

Yes that's correct. I took it 2 years ago unprepared and scored 28. I am taking it again in one week and I have been scoring around 33 (max 35) on practice tests thus far.

How long have you been studying for?
Ill be studying with a full course load :/

1. Comparing to SAT.

2. Asking about omitting.

L. O. L. 😆

Dear OP: Please find a practice test. I suggest AAMC #3. Take it under timed conditions. Treat it like it is the actual test. Note what your score is and what percentile it places you in.

Then come back and start asking questions.

TY.

I admire your patience in dealing with this type of behavior.

1) IMO you have to know the material well before talking about strategy. Pure strategy won't get you anywhere if you don't have any knowledge about the material. I think strategy may give you an extra point or 2 on the test but most of it comes down to how familiar you are with the content and how well you can use it to solve problems.

2)...Please read what MCAT is about and how it is scored...

Hope you have a higher level of patience with people considering you want to have a profession that requires patience to help people
Pre meds seriously...

But seriously, take a practice test and understand how the test is run and scored before you start asking about strategies and such.

(And lastly, NO. You cannot omit a question. The MCAT is scored based on how many questions you got RIGHT on each section.)

Okay thanks
Yeah my bad for asking questions too soon
I'm planning on taking a practice test from Kaplan
Hope all does well 🙂

Hope you have a higher level of motivation for self-inquiry and self-help considering you want to have a profession that requires lots of intellectual curiosity and drive to find things out on your own instead of asking around before you've put in any real work yourself.

Premeds, seriously...

I would rather point people in the right direction than troll them.

.....Unless it's a troll/joke thread. Then all bets are off.

That's literally what I thought this was, and treated it as such. Didn't know the quip about the SAT and omitting was serious, but I guess it was...

Many apologies.

Harder and more content based than the SAT... Time constraint is much harder, especially in verbal.. You need to master the content for the mcat

Never omit
