The amplitude of an action potential can be increased most easily by increasing whcih of the following concentrations?

a. Intracellular Na
b. Extracellular Na
c. Intracellular Cl
d. Intracellular K
e. Extracellular K

Answer: B
Why not A? Shouldnt we increase the Intracellular Na to get a higher potential across the membrane?

2. The clearance rate for a substance that is completely removed from the blood during one pass through the kidney is equal to which of the following?

a. Renal plasma flow
b. GFR

Answer: A
Why not GFR?

Thank you.

Increased EC Na will allow more sodium to enter the cell once sodium channels open. This will allow for a higher amplitude (more Na in the cell will make it become even more positive).

please help with this question
which race has least incidence for oral cancer
thanks

actively secreted substances cannot measure gfr.only renal plasma flow can be measured.
the above q mentions a substance that is completely removed,in other words actvely secreted.so the answer is renal plasma flow

if we increase intracellular sodium will not increase the amplitude?
