2 Week Away Electives?

Has anyone heard if it is possible to have a 2 week away elective in specialized fields such as rads, optho, derm, neuro etc. This would be great because it could potentially double the number of programs one can impress.

Is a 2 week Away Elective reality or urban legend?

I know a student who did 2-week electives in ENT and surgery in various places. So long as your school allows it, I think you can negotiate with the institutions. For example, some schools have a limit on how many 2-week rotations you can take.

there's a ton of 2 week electives at my school: forensic path, derm rads, optho ent just to name a few....although there are no residency prgms at my school for these

I know U of Chicago has a 2 week elective in peds derm. But I imagine it is pretty desireable among med students and difficult to get.
