2 weeks till my DAT (8/28) Is it too late to start Chads for GC and OC?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.

I wanted to start using Chads because of the rave about it on SDN, i've been struggling mostly with OC and am not getting any better as i keep going. Would you recommend using Chads with such little time left?

If so, would you recommend going through every single video or..?

You could totally do it in that time if you buckle down. Just stay focused and go through like an entire section at a time (i.e., all the Chapter 1 videos one day, Chapter 2 the next) and really pay attention as you watch it. Won't hurt to try honestly, if your scores aren't improving otherwise. I never understood Orgo. as an undergrad, but Chad's videos helped me out a ton--I felt like I finally understood concepts that confused the crap out of me before.

Chad's will definitely help, and 2 weeks is more than enough time to watch all the videos. Watch the stuff you're weak on at regular speed and the material you know well-ish, fast forward it.

Another thing that I REALLY suggest that helped me with Orgo was to make my own "roadmaps" like Destroyer.
So for example, you put an alkene in the center and draw arrows out with all the reactants an alkene can react with, making sure to write the nuances of each reaction (syn addition, antiperiplanar etc.)

Do the same with aldehydes, ketones, alcohols, and aromatics.

This helps me way more than flashcards because when I try to recall a reaction, instead of trying to remember one flashcard, I can visualize the whole "map" and thus increase my chances of remembering a reaction.

thats an awesome idea, thanks for that roadmap. this may be asking for a lot haha but do you have a copy of that that you'd be able to post? 🙂)))

I got through Chad's videos in about 1 week 2 days! And that was with taking my time and using fast play so you could certainly do it under a week. Do 1 section of videos from each subject a day, take notes, and do the quizzes after the section to see what you retained. The best part is that if you are unsure about whether you need to watch that video or not, take the quiz and depending how you do you'll know! For his math section I'm just breezing though the quizzes until I come across a topic I'm not so hot at, then I'll watch the video for that. It's an investment worth making.
