I currently have two withdrwals on my transcript on very rough semesters (both of which I was taking 18+ hours+ research). Last semesters I was taking a graduate level physics class. I dropped a class in religion and one phys chem class. In both cases I felt a bit overworked and poorly planned for the semester, so I withdrew to make out some time to concentrate on other class and work on research. I worked hard on those semesters and pulled my grades to an A. I'm planning to apply for MSTPs and currently have good GPA 3.9+, but I'm worried if my two withdrawals would preclude me from my app being considered or getting to the secondary/interview for some schools, especially top programs. I've seen previous threads on this, but I'd like to know how adcoms view my situation. Thank you

They won't care about 2 W's, though some secondaries make you explain all Ws. But if your transcript is solid otherwise you'll befine

A lot of these sort of threads have been popping up lately...

W's are fine, just be read to explain it. A W is much better than taking a GPA hit (especially one as good as a 3.9).

Don't worry about it. I had a W one semester for basically the same reason you did, and it didn't affect me at all this cycle.

I have one W on my transcript. Never been asked about it in interviews, but that may also be because I have a solid GPA. You'll be fine with your GPA

Don't worry. I had 2 W's on my transcript. I had bad starts in both classes (different semesters) and by dropping them, it dropped me down to an "easier" semester in terms of credit hours (13ish). I'm sitting on an MD acceptance now, and never had to explain them in an any interview

Thanks guys, I heard some schools look at WP differently from others and weigh it as a letter grade. I can't do anything about it now, but considering the competitiveness of MSTPs, I'm guessing I just need to do my best to make it to interview rounds and possibly explain some parts of it during my secondaries. Thanks
