hey der,
i am abt to give my step 1 in 20 days time. i am getting a really low score of abt 166 on uworld self assessment.
i solved uworld once wid an average on 55%
wht shuld i do? i am really confused as to wht shuld i do currently.
i cant push my xam in internship or final year. its now or never.
i havent done FA. plz guide me thru

DO DIT! you have 20 days left so you can do it in 15 days and have 5 more days to read FA again. grab your FA, do DIT and you might pass!!

Maybe look into Pathoma? DIT is a good idea.

Akshay, how much total time have you taken out to study? I'm only asking this because I know other FMGs from India studying for the Step 1 who got royally screwed b/c they didn't realize what was expected of them to know on the exam... and they only blocked out like 3 weeks for it...

Anyway I would highly recommend just going through First Aid and going back through your incorrect UW questions and recognizing WHY they're incorrect and learning from those answers.

i dont hv pathoma and DIT.
is it worth doin it for the 1st tym b4 20 days of exam.

Don't read RR again! its too much and not too HY. DIT will make you go through FA in a logical way and your score will improve about 20 points by the end of the course. Also, do the questions on their study guide. you can go up 20-30 points. try to do a block of uw everyday while doing dit. then in last 5 days hit your weak areas. if you have the money definitely do DIT, it's well worth.

DIT is supposed to be really helpful, especially if you've been studying for awhile and are getting burned out. It can be really helpful to change what you're doing if it's not working. Just make sure you're scoring pretty consistently before you take it.

Not quite sure why people are coming out of the woodworks and saying how good DIT is. My spidie senses are tingling. Seriously, DIT is essentially some dude reading FA to you. Save the money and read it yourself.

Let's be serious here. You are recommending someone with 20 days left to invest hundreds of dollars in 2 new programs? Not only is this bad advice financially, but also bad study advice. The LAST thing you want to do with 20 days left is to carry a burden of completing 2 new programs with such limited time. You have been doing UW, so please learn and master it thoroughly and understand the mechanism behind everything! I still don't understand why you haven't invested in a copy of FA -- I mean, its the bible for this exam and a proven resource. Maybe try borrowing a copy and try getting through it 2-3 times. If you really feel like you won't be able to score what you like close to the exam, better postpone it if you can and study more. It is better to get a passing/better score with a bit more time, than just blitzing and failing/getting stuck with a bad score which would handicap your ability to get into a decent program. There is no magic patch to fix a bad medical foundation, but you can still make up for a bit of it with some hardcore studying/cramming given the amount of time. Wish you all the best.

PS: Don't take this the wrong way, but you need to improve on your grammar/spelling/communication skills if you plan on working in the States. I am a foreign student and it is easy to see that this is one of the main problems that IMGs face, so try and distinguish yourself by improving your language skills. It will help you tremendously in your career.

so i hv decided on doin uworld 5 blocks a day and il complete it in 10days time.
then il give a uworld self assessment and see which are my weak areas.
il do FA in the last week's time.

i think its pointless to subscribe to DIT and pathoma rite now..
plus i cant and dont want to post pone my xam date.

actually that dude maybe not so right, I was only indicating DIT because it says where you should concentrate more on first aid and forces you to write down the highest yield content. It's better than dive in first aid and try to regurgitate all that info by himself. and btw, I'm not payed by DIT, just noticed how much my score improved (from 55 in kaplan to 65-70) and also scoring 80% in uw second round since may. it's not that useless the program.
