Hey, has anyone heard any information about the AMCAS 2003 application? Seems like they are tight lipped about it. Just wondering because i have a strong feeling i will be going through this again. 🙁

Ggrrrrr, girl, shhhhh!!! Let's not even THINK about it, I am superstitious and it may end up jinxing us. Let's just take it with a grain of salt (dash of pepper!) and tell ourselves that atleast we know how bad it CAN get from AMCAS 2002...can't get worse that THAT, right? 🙄 😡 🙄

When I interviewed at OHSU, they talked a little about the whole AMCAS fiasco. They said that AMCAS brought in IBM consultants who told them that the on-line app is never going to function and they have to scrap it and start again. The bad news is that it'll take longer than a year to do so, so next year's applicants have to go through the whole awful thing as well. It'll work a little bit better because they were able to fix a few bugs, but it isn't going to be pretty. I am really thankful I don't have to do that again.

this makes absolutely no sense to me. if the universal opinion is that the current online app simply sucks, why *return* to it when the problems are so great that AMCAS was advised to scrap it and start over??? what is wrong with going back to the AMCAS-E app--that one worked just fine!!!

I know I know...so the lazy bums at the AMCAS offices can pig out on pizza using our applications as paper napkins and toilet paper laffing at how much money they fleeced out of us.

Gosh, I just want to wish you folks a lot of peace and hope!!!

I am not lying when I say AMCAS ruined my ENTIRE SUMMER, and I probably spent an additional 1000 dolalrs if not more!!!

All I want is a SIMPLE PAPER application!!!! Enough with all of the "E-this" and "E-that" we are not slaves to technology (or are we)!!!!!
After reading about all of the trauma that the current applicants have had to deal with I am scared to death that I'll have to go through the same crap if not worse <img src="graemlins/pissy.gif" border="0" alt="[Pissy]" />

actually the AMCAS-E application was very easy to use and convenient as well. you simply installed the application software on your computer, filled it out (NOT online--it wasn't an internet-based app), saved it to a disk, and mailed them the disk. no problems with slow page loads, losing internet connections, etc, etc. it was quick and easy and i'm not sure why it wasn't even a back-up option this year. the app previous to that was the usual paper application that you had to type on--personally i think that's more inconvenient than a disk-based one.
