2005 Cincinnati Waitlist

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
me too 🙁 really want UC, they are my top pick!

Here's wishing you two lots of good luck. I'll be glad to see you get in!

the wait is really killing me. i spoke with someone at the admissions office and they said it's moving slow... basically at a standstill. i don't understand why... it seems like the OSU waitlist is moving.

Perhaps the powers that be have overbooked the class. It would not be the first time.

Possible...that wouldn't be good for us. Or maybe, that will shift waitlist movement more into late June early July, as other schools offer up more spots, then Cincy will start moving...

I'm starting to feel pretty crappy because I'll have to spend my summer studying for the MCAT in Aug.

I know exactly how you feel. I've been feeling anxious since the Cincy list and MCO list seem to be moving at a turtles pace. I've given myself a June 15th deadline before I start reapplying and studying for the MCAT. I really hope I don't have to do that all over again though.

See you in August. 😉

And for everyone on the waitlist....don't give up yet! Good luck!!

I called the office the other day... they told me that the list isn't moving at all. Is this normal at this time?

I'm going crazy over this waitlist, absolutely @#$@# CRAZY!

Seriously, why isn't it moving? I mean, osu and case are...

Last year was the same thing with both UC and Wright State. There ended up being very little movement is my understanding.

that stinks... the students giving tours during my interview were saying that roughly a 1/3 of the class comes from the waitlist. maybe they meant hold list + waitlist.

Hmm... if they didn't have much waitlist movement last year, do you think the list of people in the "special group" would've been smaller too?

(Yeah, I know it's a long shot... but I'm holding on to any last glimmer of hope that I might get in off the WL.)

I called cincy today to request information about the waitlist and the answer i received was, "there is no information about the waitlist." The lady I talked to said no one is withdrawing and there is no way to predict any kind of future movement. So I guess things are looking rather bleak for being accepted off of cincy's waitlist.

Case and OSU are not really moving. I talked to Case the other day, and the lady said there is SOME waitlist movement, but very little.

I am assuming y'all heard the same things at interviews, that apps were up a ton but they thought it was same number of people applying to more schools, not more people. That would translate to large waitlist movement... seems they were pulling that theory from their a$$e$.

I think Cincy's waitlist really isn't moving much at all, I know for a fact that Case and OSU's waitlists have moved some recently. But then, I'm basing a lot of this off of SDN and a couple people I know, so maybe you should just ignore me

hi guys,

I really need some help with my situation. Today I got call from Cinny. I know, I should be ecstatic and thanking the god, instead I feel very confused. My situation is........

1. I have a family in Columbus (5 yr old kid too).

2. Got into Wright State (with some scholarship money) and now I recived a call from U of Cinncinati.

3. Probably I will not go into a very compititve field (I am veterinarian and I know surgery or surgical subspecialities are not for me. There is no way I am going to go to dermatology. Probably I will end up with subspecilization in internal medicine)

My problem is.......

With Wright State, it is 1.5 hr drive from my home and for 3rd and 4th yr I have the flexibility to do rotations in Columbus 😍 . But, as you all know, Wright State is a small school and it is not very "popular" 😉 ( but I really liked the school and the atmosphere.... P/F system..... stress free 🙂 .)

U Cinny is 2 hrs drive and no chance of doing 3rd yr and 4th yr rotations in Columbus 👎 . Positives are... it is a well known school and students are nice 😍 . Negitives.... I have to stay away from my family for 4 yrs and H/HP/P/F system (lots of stress there :scared: ).

Right now I am leaning towards Wright State, Am I shooting myself in the foot?

What should I do?

go to where you'll be happy

Go to Wright State. Wright State grads have placed in several Primary care residencies all over Ohio. All that matters are your board scores and the impression you make while doing rotations.

Since you want to stay in Columbus, I'd pick the school that allows you to rotate in Columbus. Residency programs are more likely to pick someone they've met before and who have rotated with them rather than a complete stranger.

Congrats on getting the call from Cincy!

FYI, I've officially taken myself of the cincy waitlist, so good luck to the rest of you!!....CCLCM here I come!!!

i agree with the others. go where you'll be happy, which sounds like WSU. it's a great program too! the less outside stress that you have to deal with ... the better you'll do in school. family should come first. that's the reason cincinnati is my top choice...

congrats nina! looks like i'll probably end up at mco.

Thank you guys for supporting my decision.

Hey Ravi,

I got to agree w/ the others. Doubt means don't. If you have reservations about Cincy, stick w/ Wright. Plus, family is way important.

I will prob see you @ Wright in Aug if Cincy doesn't call me!

hey ravi,

i agree completely with what everyone else has said. My sis went to Wright State for med school, went on to do her residency in PM&R at OSU and now is going to Stanford for a fellowship. Wright State may be one of the most underrated med schools around and I think it's a great choice in any situation.

In my own case, I'm definitely going to Cincinnati and I wish you, and everybody else in this thread, the best of luck in med school wherever it happens to be.

Cheers.

Ok, so MCO, OSU, and Case are all moving... what the heck is going on @ Cincinnati?

anyone else receive a phone call from Cincy today asking if you were still interested in remaining on the alternate list?

Art Vandalay said:
i didn't get that call. were you able to get any info out of them?

No, didn't think to ask her any questions at the time. On a related note though, I did get a second call today from Cincinnati a few hours later. Was offered a seat and accepted. 🙂 Looks like the list is at least moving a little then.

congrats MisterMo. questions for you: are you out-of-state? were you in the special group? perhaps you can dig up more info for us still waiting?

Hopefully July will be a better month for the waitlisters at Cincinnati!

Gatsby believed in the green light. He was a warrior as well.

So I called cincy yesterday. They are still being really tight lipped. Won't say how big the "special group" is. I said I was considering signing a lease at another school but she still won't tell me where I'm at.

I guess I'm going to sign a lease and see if I can get a clause in it that I can vacate w/in 30 days if I'm not satisfied.

What are all you guys doing?

well, I got some good news for everyone. I was recently pulled off the waitlist at my top choice school and thus will be withdrawing from Cincinnati on Monday. I assume this will open up a spot then for someone else. Good luck!

p.s. I was out-of-state

Congrats MisterMo!!! If only a spot on the in-state list opened up. That would be wonderful. My school starts 8/1, so I really need the call NOW!

c'mon, more out of staers get into your school of choice and open up uc for me. please. 🙁

Not to make any matter worse, but certain state schools need to accept a certain number of in state students. The fact that an out of state student dropped off of the list does not mean that they will next move to another out of state student.
