As I sift through the interview thread, I keep wondering if these ppl are getting interviews so early b/c of stats or b/c they turned in their apps early (or both!). So I propose we start a thread, listing the date an app was designated complete by a school and the date we heard back about an interview/hold/rejection. This lets us know turnaround time.

Um, I'm a bad person to start this b/c I have no idea when I was complete for my first interview. Anyone else care to start?

I think it's their stats. I turned all of my applications in around the time people with interviews have. Still not a word from any school (actually this is not true, I got some rejections). No good news so far.

Great idea...I really hope this thread catches on....as soon as I have any news from schools...I'll post

For the people who got pre-secondary interview invites, I was just wondring how that works. I noticed it was mainly from U Michigan and UPitts. Do they give out pres-sec invites to people with really high stats or ...? I'd appreciate it if you could comment on that. If it is stats, do you guys mind stating what your stats are?

My AMCAS was verified 8/17, I got my Pitt secondary Friday 8/27 and the automatic interview invite the following Monday 8/30.

It can't be pure stats. My stats are 3.02 GPA / 4.0 BCPM GPA / 40S MCAT, and I got an automatic invite to Pitt ... I believe someone else reported getting an automatic Pitt invite with a 2.95 GPA and an MCAT in maybe the high 30's. However, I have extenuating circumstances (my GPA would be 3.7+ if not for a bad sequence of nonacademic events).

I did write a killer essay, and I'm sort of nontraditional (women's studies major, graduated high school in 1998 and just started the premed stuff last year). I think Pitt does especially look for nontrads and people they feel will fit with their "person to person medicine" approach. That's the best I can figure.

DGhiker, I laud you for posting the first rejection...it still helps us in determining turnaround time and that's all I care about. I wonder if Northwestern has an automatic interview category b/c Superdevil got one so fast. Well, it's gotta be more than numbers...I'm going to be so scared to check my mail tomorrow!
 
Thanks to DrThom posting his Hopkins complete date, now I am nearly certain that Hopkins looks at appls in the reverse order in which student turn them in. Based on a sample size of 4 ppl i know who have hopkins invites 😛 , i think only those who were complete around mid-august got invites so far. the ones who finished in july have a long way to go.
