So will orientation be the first day of class? How long after you sent your Yes letter?
Hey does anyone have AIM? We can try and setup a chat to talk about orientation?

Yes, there will be orientation from 1:00 to 5:00 on Sept 5th, then classes begin at 5:00pm the same day. Our first class is Intro to Osteopathic Med. Orientation continues the next day from 2:00 to 4:00, in which you can bring your family and friends, then classes continue at 5:00pm (Cell Biology & Genetics). Im starting to get nervous. :scared:
I sent in my "yes letter" sometime in April. My guess would be that you will recieve all your info within a couple of weeks.

Im not sure what you mean by "forms of financial aid." So far, I filled out the fafsa. Im still waiting for that to be processed (since I just sent in my tax return) before I will recieve anything from LECOM. What other paperwork is there?

I'm saying: What all are you using to pay for expenses?

Good question. I've been wondering the same thing. Well, as it is considered an undergraduate program, we may be eligible for federal grants. However, I thought that non-degree programs are not awarded grants, but you may still be able to take out loans (Im not 100% sure about this). In my case, I maxed out on undergraduate federal loans, since I am still considered a dependent student (under the age of 24), so my only other option is private loans. I emailed LECOM's financial aid office with questions about this a while back, yet I never heard back. Perhaps I should try again.

Hey, which school year will you be applying for (Medical school)? 2007 or 2008?

2007

So you are working on your application, now?

Yes I am. I asked Brian S. about when would be the best time to apply to LECOM, and he suggested to submit sometime before November. However, I still think its best to submit as early as possible. I dont know if this is the best way to go, but I'd hate to waste yet another year if there is a chance that I might get in right after post bac. I could always reapply if things dont work out.
What are you planning to do?

I'm not sure. My problem is that I have to take the MCAT again...and I don't know if I'm going to take this August or not.

No, it just includes the orientation schedule, and asks you to get a criminal records check.

Hey everyone! Just checking in to say hi. I've been extremely busy lately with work and moving around from place to place. I can't wait to get some stability back, which will be when I finally move to Erie and then when we start school. I'm a little concerned that I haven't received the orientation or class schedule information yet, nor anything pertaining to my financial aid amount. If I don't receive anything by the end of the week, I'll probably give the school a call. (I just hate being a pest.) 😳 Did you guys ever get a chat going? I'll touch base with everyone later in the week. I'm getting my wisdom teeth out tomorrow and will be out of it for awhile. 🙁 Take care everyone and have a great week!

Hey Kikigirl,
Seems like you have a lot going on. I havent received anything from financial aid either. We should definatly try to set up a chat. Lets try to decide on a date and time. So far, it seems like just us four girls from post bac are on SDN. Hope you feel better after your visit to the dentist. 🙂

If you want more information about the program, particularly the schedule and things like financial aid, you should email postbac AT lecom DOT edu. Usually you'll get a reply within 24 hours.

Hey DrA! Do you have/use aol instant messenger? I think thats what LkyCarms uses. Since she is in Erie until Saturday, maybe we could attempt a group chat mid day on sunday. What do u think?

Yes, I do. Sunday is good for me.

Hey guys!
I'll be in Erie on Monday and possibly Tuesday... Anyone else from post-bac going to be there? Keep in touch!

I won't be in Erie until 8-23-06. I'd love to be there and settled now though. Why don't you join the group chat tomorrow?

I would like to, but I have a Full length practice MCAT until 5.
Maybe next time! AOL IM = jdefranc938

has anyone received any info besides roomate info in the mail?

I recieved the housing packet, the orientation schedule, and financial aid info. I have also emailed and asked for the schedule of classes and they emailed it to me. If you havent recieved any of these, you should probably let them know...unless you just recieved your acceptance, in which it may take a while.

1. http://www.rentalguideerie.com/ = Very helpful website to find housing, LECOM will also send you a housing packet and a list of people looking for roommates that you can contact.

2. Sept. 5th (also the first day of classes) and 6th

3. No need to worry, you will get everything in time. You can also email and call for any questions.

I received the financial aid email today from LECOM directing me to view and accept/decline my award amounts. Did anyone else get an email?

Yeah I got it too.

1. would anyone be interested in having a little informal get together in labor day before classes?
2. did anyone read the girls' version of the dress code? no capris or cropped pants? we have to wear pantyhose at all times with a skirt or dress?

comments?

(i think i REALLY need to go shopping)

1. Sounds good to me too.

2. If you don't like wearing pantyhouse and skirts, you can always wear dressy pants. Great excuse to go shopping. 😉

I'm definitely up for a get together. Just let me know the details!

I just applied to the program. Do you guys know if the class is getting full? I wonder if it would be a problem to get in since it's so late!
