I just recently decided to possibly pursue a career in dentistry. I plan on taking the DAT in August and will probably be applying with AADSAS in June. The school I plan to apply to deadline for AADSAS ends on November 30, 2006. So if I were to get an undesirable score on the DAT, could I retake it again and still apply for the 2007 cycle? How long will my AADSAS application last?

you can retake the DAT after 90 days. so if you take it in August you will still have time, plus the ADA (who does the DAT) and AADSAS (who do the application) are different entities. You can apply without having taken the DAT, it's just your file at the school will not be complete.

so don't worry, study hard for the DAT and do well, if you wish to retake the exam you just notify the school of your plans and send then the second set of scores (and be sure to improve!)

good luck.

Are you saying that if you take the DAT in August.. you will still have time to retake it 90 days later in November? Please correct me if this is wrong...

Burton: let's say the OP takes the DAT on Aug. 10th, then Sept. 10th would be 30 days, October 10th would be 60 days, and November 10th would be 90 days.

OP: call the school to see if the deadline is for submitting your AADSAS application (as most of these deadlines are the AADSAS Application deadline) OR if it is the deadline for ALL supporting documents (LOR, DAT, etc).

If the deadline of Nov. is for AADSAS application then it will take another 1-2 months for the dent schools to recieve it (first AADSAS calculates your GPA and then they mail it out - both steps done Very Very slowly).

Ok.. I guess the deadlines for "supporting documents" including the DAT retest score would be later.. and would vary on a school to school basis. Obviously, the sooner the better - but the cutoff date for supporting documents is what we are talking about here.
