Sounds like medical world logic to me 🙄 When are you gonna hear back from Pitt?

I also got the thin envelope from Temple yesterday as well as one from Michigan. But the Pennytrader took the sting out. You can also count on the Pennysaver...
 
Yesterday I received an acceptance from Stony Brook! I wasnt expecting to hear from them so soon. Now I have to choose between AECOM ( my dream school ) vs. Stony Brook ( the much much cheaper school ). Im so happy that I even had a choice because I didnt have such high hopes to even get waitlisted this year.

Should be any day now - Tuesday was the 4-week-since-the-interview mark, and the folks I've talked with have all indicated about 4-6 weeks. I'm hoping it's soon, as the CSTP program deadline is rapidly approaching.
 
I have not posted on here for a while, but I wanted to give everyone an update. I got into both DMU and Marshall University (my top choice). Needless to say, I will be attending Marshall. My husband and I bought a house a block from the school and everything is pretty much set. Now if I can just keep myself motivated to continue attending my last two classes!

Congratulations, seamonkey21, EMT2ER-DOC, and Jejton! Must be so awesome to know that you are on your way to becoming a doctor. I look forward to standing in a similar place as you. Congrats, congrats, congrats!!! 😀

I'm waiting on the results of my interview at KCUMB, which has now become my first choice (thank you, for those who have wished me luck!). The committee just finished meeting today (Friday), and I am assuming the that the results have already been mailed.

Congrats! Two acceptances is quite an accomplishment. Student debt is quite a problem. However, sometimes private institutions have more aid and support for students than public, and it might be useful to compare the average indebtedness of graduates of the two schools. I'm already deep in debt for my BA and graduate degree, so I just accept that I'll be even further in debt for my MD. Whichever school you choose, you can be sure of getting a good start to a rewarding career. Good luck!

I am a 30 YO Pre Medicine student. I began community college at the age of 25 due to LIFE.. Well education was not encouraged by my parents work was its equivalent. Once I figured out that wasn't true, I headed back to school. I am at a four year institution now but it wasn't easy acquiring its acceptance. At my CCollege, I dropped out a few times leaving my transcript bleeding with W's, I have more W's than Grades. My GPA at my current school is 3.6, accumulated 3.3, but at my Community College it is 3.1 + the mass of W's. Is there a chance that I will accompany my fellow traditional students and become a Medical Student in the US, or is my dream and ambitions far fetched as a bad singer on American Idol? Please help this 30 yo student.

Well you should have started a new thread but here goes, the Adcoms will ask you if you get interviews what happend? You should address this in the Personal statement but many and I mean many have done what you have done and went back and kicked Butt and now are accepted or in Medschool or Residency, we are human and when younger make mistakes and if you go and do well when we go back many schools are will to give you an interview and if all goes well an Acceptance, Just do the other things like Volunteer, Shadow ect and you should be able to make it!

Just got my KCUMB acceptance. I'm not easily moved to tears, but I am just now realizing all my years of work have finally paid off.

To answer your question, RisingSun. Not, really. I do have one last interview at COMP. I haven't visited this school, so I have no idea whether I'd like it more than KCUMB, but I don't think I will. They'd have to be pretty spectacular for me to change my mind. I'm going to place my deposit in for KCUMB pretty shortly, probably this week (deadline is 2/23). I plan on going ahead with the interview at COMP, anyway, to get a complete feel for the school and to give me more information on which to reach a definitive choice, without any regrets.

Spicedmanna,

I've met people on interviews that have interviewed at COMP - some seemed to really like it, others did not get a very good feeling for the school. Maybe it is one of those schools that just really clicks with some people but not with others. Maybe it will click with you? It's a good idea to check it out, though, so that you have some more perspective on what other schools offer and what might or might not suit you better.

Good luck on the interview. It takes the edge off of an interview if you already know that you have been accepted somewhere. 👍
 
Holy crap! I've been accepted. The director of admissions at U of ______ called me last night to let me know. Unfortunately, I had run into the Cheesecake Factory (left my phone in the car) to get two pieces of cake and missed his call. :laugh:

I hear about my post-interview decisions tomorrow (FSU between 2pm-5pm) and the next day (USF between 9am - Noon). Come on Florida schools, don't let me down! 😍 🙂 😱 :scared: :scared: :scared:

It's a good day for us non-trads - I just got into Duke! That's something to consider for all you folks who shy away from applying to schools that don't have a reputation for being friendly to nontraditionals. If the school looks interesting to you, apply!

Congrats to you all! As an aside, and anonymously if possible, did any of you accepted applicants have lower than a 30 on the MCAT submitted???

I was accepted to OHSU today and I am very excited to go to a school where I will actually be the average age upon matriculation! They also claim they will build a daycare center. SOOO EXCITED!!!😀
