I just got an invite. I actually find it strange because...

1) My stats are low (<30 MCAT); and
2) I just sent the package in less than two weeks ago.

As they say, this process totally is a crap shoot.

Congrats!!! Thats awesome. I was marked complete about 2 weeks ago, so you're giving me hope 🙂 Would you mind sharing your stats in more detail? URM status?

hey, for those who already interviewed, was there some sort of evaluation we had to do? for some strange reason, i remember the admissions office telling me in the morning "oh, here are some cards for you to keep [interviewer's address, lunch coupon, etc]" and then telling me something about an evaluation to fill out afterwards, but i have no idea what that is or where that came from 😕

well one card had your interviewers address if you wanted to write them a thank you letter, the other had your tour groups name, and then they emailed a survey in which you could choose the tour group you had and give feedback on how they did, nothing to worry about..

they send you an email asking to fill out an evaluatiopn form online

Just got an interview invite for einstein for 12/1 =) I'm very excited. Did anyone schedule the special tour? Did that interfere with any other part of the day?

Congrats, QTLyss! That's weird that they assigned you a date..they asked me for a list of dates that would work for me, starting December 8th? Does anyone know if interviewing in Jan vs. Dec makes a big difference in terms of chances of acceptance?

I didn't. They gave me the same message starting Dec 1st and they confirmed today for Dec 1st.

My application was complete last Friday (Oct 3) and I received an invite to interview today. I think that's got to be some type of record for quickness of reply.

Now only if the other 10 schools I've been done for over a month would reply...

Yeah. AECOM is great! It only took them 2 days after I was complete.

?!?! Complete Oct. 3 and received an interview already!? Either you have super stats and/or URM status or maybe i will just never understand how med school admissions works. At any rate, congrats!!!!! I am really looking towards receiving an invite at this school

How did you know you were complete?

no one understands how admissions works. it could just be that the person reviewing his/her app is really fast while the person reviewing yours already has a huge pile to look at. you really never know.

haha, I actually have a low undergrad GPA that has been "cleansed" by a high Master's GPA with a little above average MCAT and I'm South Asian (def not URM)

if I've learned one thing this cycle, it's that there really is no specific formula 🙄

How long is it taking everyone to be complete?

I sent in all of my materials in the first week of September and haven't been marked complete yet. I called them on Monday and they said they couldn't check on anything for me and that there is a 4-6 week lag from when you send things in to when you are marked complete. I guess with that sort of a bottleneck it's easy to see why they can send out an interview invite after a couple of days.

They got my MCAT scores early September (around the 10th) just got marked complete today (notice via email) maybe I will be lucky and get an interview in the next week or two like some have reported but I have a sub 30 MCAT so we shall see!

I sent in my stuff on 9/4, and was just about to break down and call them today when I got a "complete" email. About time!

Here's hoping I get an interview ...

What's up with the secondary application page? ive attempted to submit the application six different times and each time ive received an error message, but there arent any errors! have they officially gone paperless? has anyone else had submission problems? for those who have successfully submitted, what is the format (pdf, doc) of the printable version?

This is nuts!!!

Congrats to those with interviews!!! 👍

Looks like I'm not what AECOM is looking for 😎 I've been complete for a month now (if not more), and haven't heard from them...also, I e-mailed them a few days ago that I will be in the area on a certain date...and they haven't responded :meanie: doesn't sound very promising... but i'm not killing myself over it anyway...

Their computer system is really wonky. When I submitted the secondary, I got a screen that said it was submitted, along with a link to the printable application (which you are supposed to mail in). But when I clicked the link, I got an all-black screen with an error message.

I emailed the admissions office and they responded pretty quickly (the next morning) with a working link to my printable app. I would suggest you also email about your problem, because I've heard they can be pretty short with people who call the office.

same with me.. but i also heard from a friend who goes there that the admissions office has been taking a lot of time off because of jewish holidays going on these past few weeks.

Omg, you are right!!! I totally forgot... so maybe there's still hope for us

So sad...I've been completed since 8/26/08.

yea i've been complete since 8/28 and haven't heard anything yet....i think its still early, and we all still have a shot at an interview

I just received an interview invite. I'm happy, but...

"To arrange your interview here at the College, please email us with your choice of dates, starting with January 5 (we do not conduct weekend interviews)."

Are they really so booked that they can't offer interviews until January 5th?!! 😱

That's not bad considering the earliest date for NYMC at this point is end of February.

They probably don't interview much during November/December/early January because of Thanksgiving, Hanukkah, Christmas, and New Years.

I just got my invite!!!! Finally!!!! I almost lost hope because I will be in NYC in December and I e-mailed them hoping to combine interviews but they never replied to me...I thought they are just not interested in me. And then today got my invitation, but the interview dates they suggest begin in the middle of January...I guess it'll be a double trip to NYC for me (or hopefully triple...Mount Sinai...please....please... lol) 🙂

omg yay! i got an interview today, too! so excited!!!! And I've been complete there FOREVER. so i was losing hope

does anyone know the ratio of interviewed/accepted? i really loved this school but dont want to get my hopes too high if the acceptance rate is really low.

They interview a lot of people, but they accept a lot of people too. Here is the data from 2 cycles ago: 7416 applied, 1446 interviewed, 541 were accepted, 183 enrolled.

So you've got about 37.4% chance of getting accepted. That's only 3-4 out of every 10 interviewees.

I just finished my secondary, submitted, paid, got the email, everything. But now, when I try to print it out from the link so that I can mail it in, it only prints the first few items, then goes black. Happens in print preview too. But I can see everything fine in the document itself online.

If it is a glitch that happens because I used certain characters (like quotes) in my essay, what do I do now? It's not like I can go back and edit them out...

Any guidance?

I submitted/mailed my secondary on 9/25, but I am not complete, yet.

Is this normal?

Yes, give it one more week. I'm on just about the same schedule as you, just give it a little while longer.

I submitted a week after you and was complete last week. My letters were mailed before I submitted though.

I withdrew from an interview on November 10 (hopefully...sent an email but still haven't heard from them since) so hopefully someone will be able to interview in my place. good luck to everyone!! :luck:

Hmm my letters were sent prior to submission as well.

When I submitted online, I didn't even get a confirmation. So i jus retyped the entire application and printed it as is without submitting it again. My application was marked complete sometime later so this should work. OR, you can email the admissions office.

Wait a minute?!...Do they except LOR's through VirtualEvals?

i have a question for those who have interviewed or received invites. the e-mail states that we can request them to arrange a possible meeting with a research PI. does anyone know whether this meeting is the interview itself, or after interview thing, where we get to talk to the professor about his/her research and visit the lab? thanks!

Yes. My LORs were uploaded on VE and I received an interview.

It's a separate meeting that has nothing to do with your interview. It'll be scheduled either before or after your interview.

I was reluctant to try requesting interviews at schools like you did violet... but i acquiesce... I emailed AECOM couple days ago bc i will be in NY in a few weeks so... hopefully they will respond favorably.

How do schools look at students who request interviews (bc they are in the area....)... bc i think i should have done that for other places...

Same for me! Yay for 2 NY trips!

I don't think schools look down on a student that sends an email about being in the area. AECOM specifically tells you to in their "complete" email. I don't think they are so insensitive to expect us to fly all around the country several times. They are people too! The schools I emailed were very nice. One gave me an interview right away and the other said that I had not been offered an interview yet but thanks for calling.

I don't think it will hurt you if you nicely let them know that you will be in the area on a particular date. AECOM actually encourages you to let them know...it's in their "complete" e-mail.

It's quite possible that e-mailing can actually help you...it makes them look at your application one extra time...perhaps the reason that I got my invite was that someone looked at it sooner than later. I also hear that many schools like when applicants keep in touch with admissions office and express their interest, and I know at least one amazing story where a person got a huge scholarship for studying in US because he called/e-mailed/contacted admissions office on a regular basis. At the end he got his acceptance e-mail with a short note "Persistence pays off. Congratulations."
