anyone have updates on the the 3rd year transfer opportunities?
 
I guess I need to start looking for an apartment, though there is still a slight chance I could go to another school.
I'll need a roommate or two, so maybe I'll start looking here. I'm a female and would want to be living with other females. I'm not a big partier. I have two cats (both are very friendly and affectionate). Since I'm from Seattle, I don't really have a preference on where to live.
Anybody else looking for a roommate?
 
so excited....Spoke to Luke, they are already at the middle section of the waitlist. The waitlist in 100 people about, I am in the middle section, so KAPPA09 we might be hearing from them soon. I would LOVEEEEEEEEEEEEE to go to this school. 🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄 that means I wont have to move to out of state. 😍😍😍😍😍

I think alot of the movement will happen starting this week, bc it is been two weeks since may 15th. Also Luke mentioned that BS MD students # will be finalized third week in June, so there will also be a lot of spots opening up than. cant wait.
I have until July 25 to hear from Neoucom, otherwise I will be a student at Texas. Not that I dont love TX med school ( awesome school) , just want to stay local

fyi, I conversed with Luke via Email and he said (as previously posted) that they are in the middle section of the waitlist.

He did add though that they have gotten to the lowest section of the waitlist in past years.

Sounds like good news for everybody regardless of circumstance. 😀

Are incoming M1's supposed to be registering for classes at this point, or are we supposed to wait until orientation?
 
I got an invite for an M3 interview yesterday. Anyone allready interviewed? What was it like?

The interview is sched for July 6/7. I am not sure how many spots are going to be available, when I inquired they mentioned that they will not know exactly know how many spots will be available until all the step1 scores come back. I know they have all ready had one round of interviews. I am just greatful for the opportunity to interview. Hopfully I will know more after the interview. Do you know how many spots they had last year? what is the step 1 pass rate? Continue to hang in there, you never know what may happen.
 
I AM SO EXCITED!!!!!!!!!😱😱😱 Luke from admissions called yesterday and left me a VM. stating Laura please give us a call back we have news regarding your status or something like that.. WHY DID I LEAVE MY PHONE IN THE CAR...could have been drinking and celebrating now..i mean i dont want to jump to conclusions but thats how acceptance sounds to me...9 am tomorrow. cant wait..ill post what luke says

yep much thought. I currently live downtown cleveland..so will have to relocate, too far of a drive everyday back and forth. I am thinking of getting a condo somewhere in aurora or streetsboro. I have a family thats why we need a house or condo.
What about u kappa?
 
I'm trying to find an affordable apartment in either Streetsboro or Tallmadge. I live in a suburb on the east side of Cleveland so commuting is out of the question for me too. Luckily I went to school in Akron so I know the area pretty well.
 
well, they are def at the middle of the list. I would call Luke at admissions and just ask, they can disclose that information to you. They wont tell you the exact place, but top middle, middle or finishing middle off...

Did we get any new SDN classmates this week? Keeping my fingers crossed for those of you still waiting to hear.

Kappa, I havent heard anything yet. I actually called luke today to make sure he got my acceptance letter back..I am just paranoid thats all. I am sure we'll get our stuff soon enough. Did you agree to the background check for them.

Yeah, I did the background check. I was going to call tomorrow, but since you did I'm not going to worry about it, especially since my check cleared today. They're probably waiting to hear back from everyone that they called in our "batch" and since our responses were due by tomorrow, I'm guessing we'll hear something soon.
 
So, did everyone on this thread apply for the direct entry MD program? For those accepted, would you mind posting some basic stats to give me an idea for next application cycle?
 
I got my packet yesterday. Has all the information from Student Services, DOCS etc. Found out I need shots, great😱😱😱 Otherwise, still very excited that I am going to be a doctor.

BTW Davydude7 My stats are as follows

Overall GPA 3.86 Science 3.9 MCAT 10 V, 11B, 9 P writing Q
 
Stats:

Undergraduate at the University of Washington
Overall GPA: 3.64
Science GPA: no idea.... 🙂
Major: Spanish with Honors
MCAT: 13 V, 8 P, 11 B, and Q for writing.

They didn't get to discuss me on the first committee meeting after my interview, but the did on the second and called me with my acceptance on the same day.
 
Ugrad at UAkron (NOT BS/MD)
Major-Biology Minor-Chemistry through the Honors College
cGPA at time of application=3.7 sGPA=3.6
(I sent an update letter with my grades and new GPA after Fall semester)
V=11 BS=9 PS=9 Q

Anyone else get a call recently? I'm in the middle of the list and still no love. Called yesterday and found that the majority of the upcoming list movement will occur "by the end of the month," after hearing "the first two weeks of July" earlier and "the third week of June" earlier still. 🙁

Starting to get a bit nervous here. I know we've heard that they expect to burn through at least the top two thirds of the list, but this constant backpedaling (at least, that's how it seems to me) has me very concerned.

hey bloomington, i noticed a few posts above that you had your transfer interview on July 6/7. how did it go? did they tell you how many spots are open for M3
 
Working my way through all the registration materials....but see no mention of scheduling courses. Does anyone know if this is something incoming M1's are supposed to do?
 
I asked the M2 that I am going to be living with and she said we don't register for classes the first year. It seems to me that everything is pretty planned out for us.

I'm in the same place as you. Hope we get some news from Luke soon, or else, I'll be packing up the car for AZ once my lease runs out...
 
can anyone suggest where is the best place for M3 students to live?

Does anyone know what this big event is so the waitlist makes major moves? It seems like all of the direct entry spots are taken and those of us waiting are screwed.
 
I think it has mostly to do with students withdrawing their acceptance when they have been accepted off the waitlist of a school they prefer....

Exactly. By the end of July, anyone who has multiple acceptances will have had to commit as many schools begin within the first week of August or so.

Blitzblast, I would think the best place to live would depend on your clinical site. Akron, Canton, and Youngstown are considerable distances from each other.

So its unlikely the list will move much more because most waitlists are pretty much done moving at this point....right??
 
So what are you guys doing about the book/supply list? Are you just waiting until prologue or are you going to deal with it beforehand? I feel like I can probably get some of the books cheaper online. Also, I'm trying to decide if I should/need to order a stethoscope now (I'm assuming everything else is available at the bookstore).

Long Process, 4 interviews and 4 waitlists, but it was well worth it!!! I had given up hope but I made it to Med School today!!!
