A lot of schools have one code for both the graduate schools (including SOM) and the undergrad.

Neither. As Brian said, you should be reviewed 1-3 weeks after your interview, but it could take longer, for example if one of your interviewers takes extra long to send in their evaluation. UCSD doesn't admit "better" candidates sooner or anything like that. Brian should have also told you that you're welcome to call him and ask if you are on the agenda to be reviewed at the upcoming meeting; a batch was just accepted last week, so the next meeting is next Monday. Good luck!

Next adcom meetings are 6th and 20th. I just interviewed and loved it even more than I did before going. Good luck!

UCSD application process has been really confusing for me because my name is Brian and I always have to double take...especially on here when people say "Brian said this". I'm pretty sure I'm not working in the admissions office of UCSD 😀

LOL. Nice. I deal with that kind of ambiguity continuously because one of my closest friends who I hang out with a lot has the same name as me. Oddly, our ethnicities are very similar, and our last names have similar characteristics as well. We also kind of look alike.

I'm working on an update letter this week to send to UCSD since they will start reviewing the waitlist in mid-April (according to Brian). I'm holding out as long as I can because I should be finding out if I am a finalist for the highest academic award at my school (Which I figure would be worth putting down...since only like 5 people are finalists in the entire school).

Hope there is some room left for people in the acceptable pool. Don't take it all! 😀

the next two days usually (according to brian) It should be for those interviewed in mid march.. I interview 3/16... and I believe, by reading previous posts, that I should be reviewed this time around. If your lucky, you get an acceptance phone call, otherwise u get an email (i think) saying that your on waitlist

I called Brian today and he said they should let us know by tomorrow afternoon. i think that there are less people now than before, so that everyone should find out within 1 day.

I'm sorry about the waitlists - best of luck to you wherever you go. I don't know if the proportion of people we accept changes throughout the year, but I do know we're still accepting people.

People did come off pre-interview hold, and people do come off the acceptable pool. I cannot remember the exact numbers I've heard, but I think somewhere between 40 and 80 typically get in off the waitlist... big range, sorry, but trying to give you a ballpark based on my poor memory.

I got off pre-inteview hold to get the interview and I know some others did too. And to answer answer another question, I got the email early this morning. Just have to hope get off the waitlist. And now I'm on 6 waitlists so I've got to have an ok chance. Good luck to those waiting.

I just addressed it "to whom it may concern." the first one i sent snail mail and then an email to tell them to look out for it, and they responded saying they had no issue printing an email out so i emailed the rest.

I talked to Brian and he said that 3.5 GPA was 'somewhere in the middle of the apps they look at?! Is he just trying to make me feel good? I do go to UCSD, CA resident, with cGPA=3.5, and 35Q, typical EC's, long term volunteering at the VA, research and publications through UCSD SOM.
Do I have a chance with being waitlisted, or even accepted?🙁

I'm an OOS'er. I don't know how much that will affect my chances at this point, but you might be better off as a CA resident.

3.95ish (above that...but a little below 4.0) and a 36Q

Wait you mean meeting this coming Monday?

So we could potentially start hearing in like two weeks? That is really soon!

Thanks for the extremely precise info. I imagine they are probably swamped with requests for finaid estimates right now.
