how nice, no one gets rejected before March so we can be extra neurotic 🙂

Does Emory screen secondaries? If not, I would not be too concerned...all of these schools seem to roll out the secondaries, probably to limit the impact on their system.

man, when the heck am I gonna get my secondary. I'm really anxious to fill this one out

I know, seriously. I just want to be DONE, and this is my last one which requires any substantial effort.

i didnt think the secondary requires any effort. it will cometh. you will get it done the day you get it. interviews do not begin until october and "[FONT=Geneva, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]acceptance letters mailed monthly".

I just got mine this morning. They're definitely staggering how many they send out each day, not wanting to overload the site makes sense. It's probably going by when you submitted AMCAS. No worries, I imagine everyone will get it within the next few days.
Now, I don't know who's right here, but their own secondary says average GPA is 3.75 and average MCAT section score is 11. Either one could be out of date, I suppose.
The MSAR gives numbers for everyone who is accepted, not for those who matriculate. According to US News, who does matriculants, their fall 2008 class averaged 11.3 on each MCAT section and a GPA of 3.69.

Whoa. Complete today ! Way to go, Emory! (submitted Friday)

Does anyone know about the MD/MPH program? I haven't applied for an MD/MPH at any other school, but I feel like Emory would be the perfect place since it is so close to the CDC. I did a public health internship this summer in my hometown and loved it. Would it make it more difficult to get in if I applied for MD/MPH rather than just MD?

Not sure about difficulty of admissions MD vs. MD/MPH, but the MPH at Emory is one of the best in the country, and the opportunities with the CDC, Carter Center, etc. are amazing.

In the letter of reference section of the secondary, do we still have to check off how many letters we are sending if we are submitting our letters via amcas?

me either?
Is it just early or did my morning coffee not wake me up?

haha im quoting myself in an SDN post (have a feeling it's gonna be a long day)

just keep clicking on it guys i just reloaded and the supplement came up i havea feeling people overloaded the site when we first logged in and it redirected there.

I'm confused about what info I need to put about my recs. The application says "If you have a Pre-Medical or Pre-Health Committee, a packet of letters or a composite letter from your Committee will count as one letter and is all that will be required for your application file." I'm sending six letters but in a packet.... so when it asks how many letters I have should I put one because of that sentence or put six? If I put in one then what would I put for the evaluator info? Thanks!

I have the same thing. Just point one if your career center or similiar office is compiling these letters. i.e. if you only have one point of contact listed on AMCAS you only have "one" letter. I've been through this too which is the only reason i know

Had the same issue (5 letters in one packet), I ended up putting 5 separate letters through AMCAS letter service. Hopefully they understand what I meant!

anyone else try to pay the application fee but the stupid payment site says it's down?

the more i read about emory, the more i am falling in love with it! how could i possibly express why emory in only 100 words???? did any just list things or should we just pick few things that we like the most?

is anyone else having trouble saving the essays? i hit save but it doesn't work... grrrr

Are you using the correct browser? --
"PC WITH INTERNET EXPLORER (version 6.0 or later)"
Because I did not have any problems submitting it using IE 6.0

If you can get into the MD program, you're automatically in the MPH also. (Director of MPH program came to M1 orientation and said we're all automatically in the MPH program, all we have to do is tell the MPH program we want in.) There's no way you'd get accepted into MD and get rejected by MPH.

First interview day this year = 9/25, last is 2/26, interviews are twice a week, M/F. GL to everyone whose applying here :xf:, lemme know if you guys have questions, I've only been here a month and a half but I'll try my best to answer them.

If i add Emory to my primary today, do you guys think that'd be too late??? Am I going to have to wait a month before they give me their secondary?

If you want to, go ahead--better late than never. 1) You'll prolly get the secondary in sooner than a month and 2) my roommate applied later than you last year and he still got in, so there's no such thing as too late. Just get working on those essays and submit it ASAP after you get the secondary. GL

Any fellow Georgia applicants here?

thanks for the info.

First invites went out yesterday, but don't worry, I didn't get an invite until Feb. last year so be patient 🙂

How fast does Emory complete your file? they had all of my stuff as of yesterday but they needed to match my LORs with what I had indicated on the secondary

I submitted 8/26 and I'm still not complete per the website. It says they got my letters on the July 14th though.

Very similar case with me, my letters were received in July and I finished the secondary few days back. However, I they say on the status page that it may take up to two weeks to mark the application formally complete.

holy crap. interview invite today...that was unexpected, since I was complete...yesterday. OOS too....

Congrats! How long did it take for them to mark you complete after you submitted?

well i submitted sunday, 2 days before that.

quickest reply ever.

That's weird, I submitted on sunday as well and I'm not complete yet.... My letters have been in for a while. 🙁

...I'm sorry?! i honestly do feel bad it was so quick. not sure what made them pick mine first.

ill keep u posted though, cuz i did want to get my interview date changed.

do u know if they are flexible with this at all?

hah no need to be sorry, there must have been a ton of people submitting on sunday and they might still be "completing" the apps from that day.

Most schools are pretty flexible with date changes.... Emory only started giving out interviews so they obviously have tons of dates left, should be fine.

It looks like there's not much of a pattern to how Emory does these things. I was marked complete less than 24 hours after I submitted. No interview yet. Congrats He2.

yeah, I submitted over the weekend and I'm still not complete yet either, despite having my letters on file and everything.

Relax guys, last year, I submitted my secondary 9/11, wasn't marked complete until 10/2, didn't get an interview invite until 1/12, didn't interview until Feb., and somehow still made it. I know how you guys are feeling, but keep in mind it's only Sept and interviews go all the way until late Feb. You guys will be fine.
