complete 09/01.
did you apply NP as well? congrats!
NP INVITE!!!
complete 8/20
i dont even know what to do right now. i feel like its fake.
Interview with NP!
For anyone waiting to hear: 38Q, 3.6cum/3.4sci. You do not need a 4.0 to get an interview!
What is a Lizzy M??Thanks! I'm a reapp (applied MD/PhD Philosophy) so this is my last shot hehe.
They have a great non-degree medical ethics program, so I'm super excited.
Edit: Yes, my MCAT is solid. My GPA, however, is below average at MANY schools. My LizzyM is pretty solid though, overall. I was a bit nervous about the GPA after not getting in last year though.
congrats on all the invites!
i am also a reapp, interviewed with NP last time and am hoping for better luck this cycle!
for those with invites, when were you complete?
invite this afternoon!!!!! complete 8/19. 35Q and 3.85 for both GPAs. can't believe it. absolutely can't believe it.
Do you have a lot of research or clinical experience on your app? I'm asking because I have pretty much the same numbers but no research...basically I'm just antsy.

Relax a little bit. I have better numbers and 2 years of research but no invite yet. She does, however, have a Cell publication. That's pretty impressive, but I wonder if they actually read our apps so thoroughly until after the interview. After all, your app isn't truly "complete" until after the interview.
has everyone else got NP interviews or are some of you getting an HST invite, like me?
when did science become more about counting publications like currency than actually learning useful information?
how do we freaking know that it was that *one* publication that got me an interview there? and here i was, thinking that maybe my background was interesting enough that harvard wanted to talk to me. what could i possibly have been thinking? thanks, SDN, for bringing me back down to earth. god forbid i should have been flattered or excited. 😎
i knew i shouldn't have posted my stats. god, people on SDN are ruthless 🙄
np.

No, still be excited! That's freaking amazing that you got an interview. Seriously, it's Harvard Medical School. They definitely look at everything when inviting, which is why I was wondering what you had in addition to your stats (which are great). I don't think anyone was trying to suggest that you only got an interview because of a publication, but they were just saying that you have a lot of strong points on your application in addition to stats and whatever else.
Either way, you earned and received an interview at Harvard, so nothing should be getting you down. Congrats again!

ok BIG QUESTION!!!!
i got a letter in the mail from Harvard. it was one of those "your a URM so you should apply" letters. i had a 30 on the MCAT.....is it even worth applying? i feel like it would just be a waste of money since my stats arent super.
what do yall think?

Hey there just wanted to say congrats and by the looks of your MDApps profile I'm sure your application is really interesting...you should be proud. Also, a 35Q and 3.85 GPA are average to above average stats for a Harvard medical student (the #1 research institution in the US)...their website lists ~35 MCAT and 3.76 GPA (Class of 2008). No one has any right to look down on your stats cause they're awesome (and, admittedly, better than mine). Good luck!
I found this interesting. Other than reputation (which is a value judgment anyhow), upon what piece of data would one judge which ONE PARTICULAR SCHOOL should be considered THE "best medical school in the nation?"
Not flaming here, just really curious.
I would love an invite here, and have good reasons to want to apply, as does everyone else I'm sure, but is there really any school that should be considered "the best?"
The best for an individual, sure, but really? Nationwide? None better? I caught that you qualified your statement with the word "arguably," but this makes me curious.
Please explain if you don't mind.
Name, prestige, and location aside, I feel as if most med schools are more or less similar. The one school that's unlike any other is Yale because of the Yale system, imo.
