Anyone interviewing on Friday, March 26? I am looking forward to finally getting to interview with them!

Good luck!

I would really like to get off the wait list...is it kosher to call Mr. Mosley?

Being on 2 wait lists is really nerve wrecking :scared:

I'm currently on 3 waitlists with no acceptances so I TOTALLY understand. 😳

I have a question for my fellow Meharry waitlisters, has anyone received an invitation for their Post-Bac program? ..Anybody? 🙂

I feel like I'm following you around, lol.

Anyway, I guess I don't know how the post-bacc works. I thought that post-bac was one of the decisions you could receive, as in, an applicant interviews and their decision is directly post-bac, not, "we'll waitlist you now and then offer you post-bac later." I guess it would make sense to offer a waitlister post-bac though, since they haven't interviewed everyone.

Ugh, this process is just...random.

Hey guys!! I am brand new to SDN!! But thank you to all of yo ufor your help because I was definitely making use of these threads! I was actually recently accepted to Meharry!! Yay Class of 2014!! Here is my timeline to help.

October 12 submitted AMCAS
December 10 submitted secondary
December 23 File Complete
January 27 Interview Email
March 5 Interview
March 15 Recieved CBC from AMCAS
March 19 Recieved official acceptance thru email

The funny thing is I found out I was accepted when I recieved the CBC because mine stated you are recieving this email because you have been "accepted or waitlisted at one of the schools you applied". Well knowing that I had only interviewed at two schools I called both of them to verify since I was yet to hear anything. The other school (Louisville) said I was still under review, so I called Meharry. Spoke with a nice lady, Ms. Davis, and she let me know that I had recieved admission and will recieve an official letter later in the week. She said she was surprised that the CBC had went out so early before the actual acceptance letter. Did this happen to anyone else? And I guess to those that recieved the CBC after the acceptance don't feel worried because you are the normal one 🙂

After recieving the acceptance I am about 95% sure that I will be attending Meharry (unless the other school I interviewed at accepts me and offers me a bomb ass fin aid package!). So I am now preparing for the move. Has anyone started looking for housing? Please share your findings.

Well I know this was long, but I hoped my story helped! I thought I was late in the game, but there was still a chance and I believe there is a chance for you all as well.

**ADVICE: Dr. Mosley did tell us during our interview if you havent heard anything by 3 weeks you need to call immediately! He gave us his personal cell phone number.

I need an acceptance letter from Meharry! I contacted Dr. Mosley and he told me I should be expecting good news very soon...hopefully it comes this week. i hope the reason it has taken 4 weeks is b/c there is some financial aid involved, b/c i am getting neurotic.:xf:

There is a separate selection process for the post bac program. If the admissions committee waitlists you after your interview, the post bacc committee can choose to take you off the waitlist and offer you a spot in the post bacc program or leave you on the waitlist and let you still be considered for a spot in the freshman class.

I was told last year, after being waitlisted, that I was being bounced around for both. I would just take what is offered because some of the post bacc students are placed into the first year class if spots become available.

I received an email in June of 2009 saying that the post bac class was full so my guess is they will select up until then.

Are you going to reapply? I'm probably not going to re-apply 🙁, too much time and money!

I heard from a good source that there is a difference between Post-Interview Hold and Waitlist. I don't recall reading people here posted about being on Hold post-interview, but from what I gather is that: Wait List>>>>post-interview HOLD...

This is something I heard and i think it might be worth sharing it here...I am not sure if the HOLD is new status category this year!

I've never even heard of post-interview hold. It wasn't brought up at the interview as an option. But it sounds a lot like, "We can't decide on you so we're not going to think about you right now."

I am fairly confident that I might not have to, call it a premonition I suppose ..or just 'optimism'. 😀

In all seriousness however, it depends on how bad you want this. I'm a (young) healthcare professional as is and although my position does make decent $, I don't make a lot of decisions and neither is it invasive ..et.c

So I'm going to try to become a Doc, I guess until I can't anymore.

Hi Everyone,

Congratulations to those with acceptances already and to those who were granted an interview! I saw from a couple posts that there are unanswered questions about things. I'm a current 4th year student at Meharry and I'll be glad to field your questions via private message -- sorry, I don't check the pre-allo threads that often, so I can't promise that I'll see your question in a timely manner if you post it here.

I wish everyone who's interviewing the best of luck and congratulations to everyone!

Hi do you know any single moms in your class or another class that I can talk to about daycares in the area? You can email me at [email protected]. Thank you so much I have some other questions for you also.

What did u think about the interview?

What did u think about the interview?

I thought the interview went great. Mr graves and I really talked and I think he understood me as a young woman and not as a " normal pre med girl". It was 35-40 mins long and very low stress. Mr graves actually gave me advice about where to eat dinner bc I talked about how much I liked to eat. Haha
I wish there were 2 interviewers so I could get two recommendations. At the end of my interview I was told I was a "good fit" n he would write a great recommendation for me. So much fun in Nashville.

Im going to call Mr Mosely tomor and ask when the waitlist will be moving

Hey guys.. did anyone that interviewed on March 29th get any feedback?

Hey were you able to find out from Mr. Mosely when the waitlist may start moving?

Hey, I called admissions and talked to Ariel (Mr. Graves). He said the wait list usually will start moving after the last interview ~mid April. Since Meharry starts early I think they start moving early too so people can start in June.

Anyways he told to call around mid-April. Also I asked and he said no more additional LOR but a LOI is always accepted.

This was emailed to us I think. Anyways it says 4/15 for those who start early so I think MMC will be moving sooner than others!

"By May 15 of the matriculation year (April 15 for schools whose first day of class is on or before July 30), April 30 for MD-PhD programs, each applicant who has received an offer of acceptance from more than one school or program choose the specific school or program at which the applicant prefers to enroll and withdraw his or her application, by written correspondence delivered by regular or electronic methods, from all other schools or programs from which acceptance offers have been received."

I interviewed on March 12th. And I received a letter, dated March 24th, through snail mail. 🙂

congrats to you eiheme22!! I have been looking into housing and found alot of great places but I am still looking for roommates to make it cheaper. I called and asked the school about Royal Towers and they said they are mailing me an application for it. but I cant seem to find any pics. Do you know what it is looks like?

I have no idea what they look like...during our interview tour we only got to see them from the outside. :-(

The Towers is great esp for 1st yrs cause you'll spending A LOT of time in Gross Anatomy lab at all hours of the night (esp if you're trying to get some work done), so having ur place as close as possible is a GREAT idea. They have 1 & 2 bedrooms available, but act fast cause you dont want to end up scrambling as some of my classmates ended up (i believe they start at about $500/month, but dont hold me to that). Another option is Dorothy Brown (dorm style living --> starts at about $300/month. It includes water & electricity, but no kitchen 🙁). For more info, join the fb group meharry medical college SOM-class of 2014. there's already a discussion going on abt this.

Called Financial Aid...we should expect to be able to cover 1st month living expenses, but refund checks should be dispersed the 1st or 2nd week of school.

Start the post-bac on May 24. Then, withdraw from this program if you are lucky to be accepted into med school afterward! This is what I would do!

You stay on the wait list until you start at a medical school so I would just go to your post-bac and wait for an acceptance!

You will probably hear before 5/24 so even if you get wait listed (hopefully you don't!) you can still start your post-bac!

where are you doing your post-bac?

Yup...do what you gotta do!

Meharry has been known to let people know very late. Last year they gave my friend a little over a week to relocate and start school. They even pulled someone out of the post bac after it had started and offered them a spot last year. It's all about how bad you want it! You never know how things are going to work out. Good luck everyone! :xf:

I got into post bac at university of north Texas health science center. I'm going to accept but I would have to relocate to Dallas from where I stay I'm going to be giving meharry a call and ask on April 15.

I withdrew my acceptance to Meharry and so is my friend. Good luck!!!

So I can't find the calendar online for this school year. When does MAPS start?

Do you folks know if they are still interviewing? Please do tell us if you or anyone you know get accepted from the waitlist

I dont think they are interviewing anymore because its almost the 15th and this is basically when the waitlist will start to move.

:luck: everyone

for those of you that received a "waitlist email"....what exactly did it say??

did it just simple say that you have been waitlisted and nothing more??

I am asking because i remember Mr. Mosley saying that although they dont rank their waitlist numerically, they do have 'separate pools'...e.g. a high pool and a low pool....obviously the applicants in the high pool will have a better chance of getting pulled of the waitlist.

....i just want to know what the "waitlist email" said...did it give anymore detail besides..."you have be waitlisted"...???
