I stayed at the Days Inn across the street from the medical school and it was great. Tell them you're interviewing and you can get an interview rate of $50 and they will provide a shuttle to and from your interview and the airport if you need it.

Thanks for the tip! I just made my reservations. Any other useful information or tips?

Not really, as far as getting there once you get to the hotel your all set. The interview was really relaxed, they just asked questions about my app, why Penn State, etc. Everybody was very nice and it was a pretty fun interview day.

Just returned home from my interview.

Saying the interviews are relaxed is an understatement and I didn't get any questions related to why PSU or why medicine. The majority of my group thought their interviews went well, too.

M1s and M2s were swinging by to talk to us in the lobby and staff escorted us to every interview/event. I definitely felt good about the people I met.

Overall, a good experience so there's nothing to fear!

Dear Penn State,

Could you please, for the love of everything holy, mark me complete already? I do not understand what is taking such an amazingly long time.

Sincerely,
Sammich

i interviewed here last month on the 18th. i was wondering if anyone remembers what they said about how long till we hear back...any chance of news next week?

I called the admissions office last week and was told 4-6 weeks from the interview date. That won't stop me from checking my inbox obsessively next week though. 😛

FWIW, I heard 6-8 weeks as of last week and it'll be mailed to your preferred address, not e-mail.

One page letter in the mail. I opted not to cut it open and instead manhandled it, expecting a rejection letter.

"Continue to Review"

Better than a rejection, but certainly not an interview.

Haha, I think everyone and their mother's brother has gotten that letter. SO annoying.

Penn State College of Medicine Secondary Application

Our records indicate that your Secondary Application has been received, but it has not been determined whether your application is complete or not at this time. Once that determination has been made, you will be notified via email.

This is still my status even though I submitted AGES ago. Everyone still have that issue or is it just me? Do you get complete only after they review your application for hold/interview/rejection? The admissions office was extremely vague when I called in...not helpful at all.

I have the same issue 😡 I called them, they said that they process mid-august applications right now😕

Interview invite!!!!!! OOS. Complete Sept. 29. Have to call today to schedule.

Got an interview invite today scheduled for November 16, Monday, their schedule seemed pretty packed, they say that Holiday Inn gives rides to and from airport and to and from school so was going to book one but was wondering if anyone wanted to share a room and split the cost

My interview is the week after - Nov. 23 - Luckliy I have off from work that week so figured this was best even though it was pushed back. I have a free room in Allentown but don't want to stay that far away. Think I'll have to drive since I live in DC. Amazed that I got an interview here OOS.

3 application cycles, 2 mcats, over 5000$ in application fees, secondary fees etc... 0 interview invites...

thank you penn state, you made my year... interview invite as of this morning...

got an interview invitation, scheduled for 11/6!

complete as of 9/25, did not receive a complete email nor has my status changed online now that i've received the invite... i check everyday and on 9/25 my status changed to complete and under review, i received the email invite this morning

Booked the Hershey Days Inn. Thanks SDN - can't beat the $49/night rate!

Is there a forum for interview feedback so I can see what to expect?

yeah there's plenty of interview feedback for penn state

anyone know if the letters are going out this week or not?

Oh good. I submitted 8/18 so maybe they will finally get around to me.

I can't even imagine how many applications they have in the incomplete pile.

This is seriously insane.

What's the name of the airport i should be flying into, never been to PA, or anywhere in the EST time zone... now that i think about it, i probably should've factored the time difference in when scheduling an 8:30 interview... so that's really 5:30am for me... crap

I'm flying into Harrisburg which is the closest to Penn State.

Is the 3-letter abbv for that MDT? because the receptionist at the days inn said to fly into MDT

I also want to recommend Hershey Days Inn. It's $49/night, but you have to tell the receptionist that your interviewing at Penn State. In addition, there is a FREE shuttle service to the med schoo & airport. Now, that's a steal!

OMG! I submitted my secondary in mid august, my AMCAS was verified 09/15 - still not complete!!!!😡😡😡😡

hey, anyone that interviewed in September remember what they said about when we would hear news?

i remember them saying 6 weeks via snail mail
hoping i'm wrong and we hear back soon

So a bunch of people complete after me got that hold letter in the mail. I'm instate and I am wonder if any of thsoe that got the hold letter were instate? Otherwise I don't know why I don't have a hold or an interview.

Submitted 8/11
Complete 9/2
Invite 9/23
Interview 10/26

Who's with me on the 26th?

(OOS also)

I'm instate and I got the hold letter. I wish I would get off of it and get an interview already, but I think the likelihood of that happening before Hell freezes over isn't very great with the way they're "moving right along."

What is the cheapest way to get from the airport to the Days Inn? I know they offer a shuttle but that's only if you arrive within a certain time.

It's roughly 20-30 minutes away so I'd imagine a taxi would be rather expensive.

Woot! interview invite!

Submitted july/august, complete 9/29, interview invite 10/16.
OOS, sub-70 LizzyM, pretty good looking.

Taxi was only $24 bucks, and the ride was only like 15 minutes.

Anyone have any idea how many OOS who interview are accepted? I'm really excited about my interview here but want to know if I really stand a chance....I wish MSAR provided such data not just the number of matriculants...

That's one question I forgot to ask; what their policy is regarding OOS applicants post-interview. It would be good if someone interviewing in the near future can ask to find out whether we're considered equally at that point.

Did anyone who interviewed in early September hear back yet? I interviewed Sept. 16th but its been 5 weeks now... I thought we may hear back faster than 6-8 weeks since it was one of the first interviews!
