Under review as well. Sounds like a hold to me.

I was complete on 7/30 and I still have not heard anything yet....Did any of you who were complete close to 7/30 hear anything?

Wow. Just got an invite. I was beginning to give up on these guys, since I submitted back on 7/18.

Yeah, I got an email this morning. And yesterday my status still said "under review", so I was pretty surprised!

So...is anyone else still having trouble logging into Temple? I put in my information, and it just reloads the log-in page.... 😕

I am still under review and was wondering - I am eligible for PA in-state residency. Should I write an update letter/call the admissions department/etc. to let them know and ask if I should bother pursuing residency? Would it affect my chances at all?

I wouldn't. I don't think it matters too much at this point.

Interview invite... did not expect since i was complete on 7/22.... interviewing oct. 14th

I am just starting my secondary application now. How long did everyone make their essays? I was thinking like 400 words or something.

i saw you interviewees walk around the MERB and some of you walking down broad st looking lost...brought a smile to my face...seemed like so long ago

Mine was ~450 words (just checked). Once you start thinking about what you want to write, making an arbitrary word minimum won't matter though.

I'm not sure when I was complete, but I submitted the secondary on 7/25. Best of luck to everyone else!

wouldn't it be funny/scary if schools could see how often we check our status pages?? since folks are finding out about interviews at temple via their status pages first, i think i've been checking mine about 10 times a day! pathetic!

😉

same here!! i also thought of that, it would be very interesting at least they can tell those that are REALLY VERY OBSESSIVELY interested in their school 😉

I was complete back on 7/7 and still haven't heard anything from Temple. I'm guessing that's not good...

Anyone else been complete that long or more and recently received an interview invite?

(I Really want to be in Philly! :scared:)

I thought about that too! Honestly, it's the only thing that keeps me from checking my status more than I already do!!! :smack:

I have been "under review" since 8-25, now I don't feel so bad if you have been complete since 7/7 =0/
Maybe they are just really slow??
At least you haven't gotten a rejection yet....no news is good news, as the cliche goes

i been complete since liek 7/22 (around then) and jsut received one.. it isnt as long as you but it might give you a little hope, eh?

for those who got interviews, did you get an email or did your status change first?

I just got an interview invite, I've been under review since late July. 🙂

And another transcontinental flight. I'm happy, but my wallet's not...

Complete since forever, but nothing. Perhaps this means a hold.

Interview done. The waiting begins... (Oct. 15!!)

The school is amazing, by the way. If the new building and the people you meet there don't blow you away, I don't know what will.

Some info from the trip: They said so far they are on track to receive 10,000 apps this year (last year was 9000 something); they interview about a thousand. Didn't say how many offers are typically given.

Really excited for Temple 🙂

hey powerbutton could you talk a little about the interview?? and did they say they will let you know on the 15th??

Still no updated student host list eh? Looks like I should book a hotel huh, seeing as my interview is next week.
havent been to this site in a while... keep sending questions this way though

powerbutton - when's your interview? pm me and i might be able to help you out

this school is amazing, I interviewed on the first day and I agree that the people really do make the school. I thought the students running my tour group and the people in my interview group fit really well with my personality style (everyone was laid back), which is important to me. You can really tell that they care about the students at this place; I could definitely see myself going here.

Does anyone know the percentage of acceptance once you are offered an interview? Thanks!

I agree completely with you. I wish I would have known how well I was going to like this place. You shouldn't have to wait very long past October 15th to find out your decision either. We were told yesterday that decisions for your interview day already occurred.

it's a little less than 50%

class of 2013 is 196 and I believe they are bumping up that number by a few for the class of 2014, fyi

Does anyone who already interviewed have any advice about upcoming interview at Temple?

Heard this school is incredible. Checking my status page pathologically for an invite. Is this school in Philly?

I am lucky enough to have a recommendation from a professor on the adcom for Temple...Hopefully that will at least get me an invite. :scared:

does anyone know if we can leave our luggage someplace during the interview day?

You should be able to leave it at the counter of the hotel you're staying at. If you're not staying at a hotel, they said we could leave our bags in the conference/lobby room that we meet for the Info/Financial Aid Session. You can go back to the room after tour & lunch. Though out of all 20 interviewees, I didn't see anyone brought his/her luggage. But if you brought it, I don't think it'll be a problem that you leave it there.

I think you can only be considered for the state as your residency that you've listed on your AMCAS app (or else is it fair you're considered in-state for 2 or more states?). You can call them to check though.

However, since 50% of the class are PA residents (preference to PA residents), I think it's to your advantage to mention your strong ties to PA during the interview.

That's what I heard from the admissions speaker the day I interviewed too, which is the same week. They said the admissions committee meets every Friday to make admissions decisions. All interview decisions for (Sept interviews?) should be made by Oct 15. The speaker emphasized that the "low-stress" interview is their model at Temple.

Your interviews are usu with 1 student and 1 faculty, sometimes with 2 faculty. SDN's interview feedback has all the questions you need. They asked the standard questions: Tell me about yourself. Why medical school? Why Temple?

My first interview is with a student, which I got relaxed really quickly, but choked a bit on the "current healthcare reform Obama's pushing" question, b/c I can't remember all the points I wanted to make.

Second interviewer asked me how many med schools I've applied to and why? What do look for in a med school? I don't I answered that too well. Also the 2nd interviewer didn't follow the questions format I've used for my simulation interviews, so my rhythm was thrown off a bit and can't remember what points I still need to make.

I think it's important to be able to weave all the points you wanted to make somehow into the answers you gave, despite the variations on the question formats. If there's something you wanted to say, just ask if you can let them know how you make a good candidate for Temple and tell them. You want to give them as much info (makes you unique (your expereince, goals, etc.), makes you genuinely interested in their school) as possible so they can make a strong case for you when presenting to admissions committee. I heard an interviewee wasn't able to give his practiced answers to "why Temple" b/c it wasn't asked, before the interviewers kind of ended the interview with "What can I tell you about Temple/any questions about Temple," which all of them asked in the interview to "wrap things up."

Good luck to you all!

During the interview day tour, the student guides keep emphasizing what rich life they were able to have to balance with med school (like all the activities they offer and are involved in). I got the impression that the faculty really cares about the students, receptive toward students' input. EX: a professor switched lecture notes format from outline form to paragraph/descriptive form after students said can't understand very well; professor sent warnings/alerts to students who didn't do well on first midterm and asked them to get extra tutoring help to make sure they don't fall hopelessly behind; the quiz was switched from 1-sided to double-sided on a paper after students complained it's wasteful (kind of a bit overboard, but funny I thought).

small-group doctoring/clinical exposure starts the first year. The classes are from 8- noon, and some days with small-group doctoring sessions in afternoons. That leaves the rest of the day open! How cool is that!
